Ikki was developed by Sunsoft and released on November 28, 1985. Ikki on multi-carts has confusing titles like "Zinja" or "NInja." Ikki is considered among the best of the Famicom's early releases.

Yes, that hunchy-looking dude with the green bandana is you, the hero -- Ikki (known as Gonbe in Japan). He is a farmer and is pissed off about having to use his prized trinkets to pay off local ninjas and the evil municipal samurai lord, who claims to be keeping away spirits. So, Ikki sets off to regain his trinkets, take on these ninjas and warlord, and stop the oppression of fellow farmers.

Ikki in a Garden

Ikki defends himself with the only weapon in his arsenal: a boomerang. And while trying to collect eight coins per stage, he battles with ninjas, demons, and whatever else confronts him to become, as the ending so aptly puts it, "A WINNER."
