Does anyone here 'celebrate' Lent? I was born into a Roman Catholic family, and although I'm not the world's best Catholic I do try to do Lent. This year I gave up soda, which turned out much harder than I expected. I've been on a straight caffiene buzz since Easter Sunday. I think all I've had to drink the last two days has been Mountain Dew Livewire and water to stave off my inevitable kidney stones.  ;D

Well, here (I don't know about the rest of the world) people don't eat meat in those days, I'm vegetarian, so for me it's backwards (joke).
But we don't celebrate easter.

Same here, Ms. Jackson. Raised a Catholic, but I don't do Lent, or services, or any of it. My parents are big on it all, though, so I participate by default, I guess. No meat Fridays. :-\

Speaking of sodas, I gave them up about three years ago and am still holding pretty true to it. I hate the effect caffeine has on my brain...headaches from past overconsumption. :o

I'm trying to quit SODAS, mostly Coke and coffee. But it's hard :(

Goof Friday

By the way, I always found it strange how you're expected to give up meat on Fridays, the "Good" one included, but you're also expected to go to mass and eat the flesh of Christ. (http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g2/jerahcordova/confused-smiley-013.gif)

I didn't really give up anything for Lent, except for lots of sleep. :P

As for Goof Friday, I'm vegetarian. :)

I don't understand, you're vegetarian like me all the year or only in that friday ?

It's not physically his flesh; it's spiritually. ;D

Well, from my Catholic upbringing, I'd always been taught and still hear about it being the actual flesh of Christ, that during the consecration of the bread and wine they transform into the body and blood of Christ -- that's what the whole 10 min. consecration is for. Don't know, though. I suspect that a lot in religion is intended to be symbolic (spiritual) as opposed to real (physical).

Happy Easter, Jedi! Anybody doing anything fun? When it comes to this day, I don't really do anything special. I've personally never really been a religious person, so this day was usually about hunting plastic eggs filled with stuff, if anything. On a side note, turning 21 this month  8)

Happy Easter!

Oh the egg hunt is a sacred ceremony in it's own right.
