Post by: Atariboy on September 13, 2007, 11:46:03 am
For years I wanted high scan or photos or all front boxs of Famicom and NES box set so far I have some but not all boxs but I did took these old photos cuase my small scanner cant fix all these boxs to be scan also need  the inside of  how these are packed..

BTW on the Famicom boxs are there any other box packin other the the old Famicm and Famicom AV or thats all they just did and was there any Famicom box set that has a packin game? In the US and UK there where MANY PACK-IN games and sets of NES boxs.

I love seeing them all side by side like that.  Is that a square button Famicom box?  Looks like it.  It's pretty amazing how through all the years the only packaging that ever changed with the Famicom was changing the controllers; never any pack in's, special sets and other hoopla that the NES had.  But that's very Japanese to buy everything indivdually and never get any discounts for buying in bulk.

sorry to cut you off, but I see a Famicom Disk System box there as well as the paperwork. Do you have a scanner? I'm looking for high resolution scans of the FDS. If you have the manual scan that would be the best of all.

i will start to scan it all this week. the manual is amazingly cool. i also got all the double sided promo mini posters, too. i'll scan it all.

sweet! please email me your stuff. (satoshimatrix@hotmail.com)

I'm making custom cases for all my games to protect them from dust, and that includes the Famicom Disk System RAM Adaptor, which is so large I'll have to use two cases. What I need however is artwork and such to put on the cover, because almost everything on the net right now is low res or unuseable.

As for good games, there are countless threads about this already. You'd do well to check the history or search.

That said, Famicom exclusives:

The FDS has superior versions over the NES versions of these:
Metroid, Zelda II, Akumajou Dracula (Castlevania 1)

The Famicom has such a large selection of good games, I'll have to post a list later. For now, why not look at the reviews section of Famicom World? You might get a good feel for some games.

i heart yuna, when you scan the cover for the FDS manuel, please epost it as either a .png or tiff file rahter than .pdf. .pdfs are difficult to work with so bascailly anything beyond a jpeg is fine with me!

that's a good idea. i put two more new posters (the legend of zelda and a various games poster) up on my blog and added a TIF download option for all four.

Thank you. Please scan the poster for the FDS Disk -kun alone with the while background next. I've decided I'll use that for my cover. It'll work beatuifully.

edit: hmm I can't seem to get the links on your blog to work. They are non-clickable. Might want to look into that.

The problem still exists - The Zelda and the Vollyball scans are not selectable. Probably just an html error.

I know that some members of the community such as corisco and a few others collect CIB or at least the boxes of Famicom games. Through the use of my own collection, friends, ebay and othe rcommunity members I've been able to assemble almost all of the artwork I need to complete my Famicom cover project. However, there are some jarring loose ends that need to be tied in order to finish it - I lack the nessesary artwork to sufficently make covers for some games.

Please, if you happen to own any of the following boxes, please consider scanning the front covers for me. Even if the boxes are beat up, it shouldn't be anything photoshop can't fix.

Here's what's left:

Abadox
Challenger
Castle Exellent
Dragon Buster II
Fantasy Zone
Family Composer
Fire Emblem 1
Field Combat
Famicom Detective Club Part 1 Disk A (disk system)
Famicom Detective Club Part 2 Disk C (disk system)
Great Battle Cyber
Gegege no Kitarou
Getsufuu Maden
Konami Wai Wai World
Konami Wai Wai World 2
Nazo no Kabe (disk system)
Son son
Spelunker
Super Momotaro Electric Railway
Street Fighter 2010
Takahashi Meijin no Bug Honii
Youkai Douchuuki
Warukyuure no Bouken
Tetsuwan Atomu

If anyone has any of these boxes, please scan them at 300dpi. you can either post them here or email me them directly at satoshimatrix@hotmail.com.

The future of my project rests with you!

Does anyone know where I can get a high quality scan of SMB 3 for Famicom?  I would like to add a label to my pirate SMB3 cart.  It could be a pirate label as long as it's "high quality" (the scan) not the quality of the label itself). :P

I'm expecting a legit "loose" SMB 3 due in from Japan Game Stock, I can always scan it for you and send whatever size you want it in.  I usually scan all my Famicom cart labels then resize them for use as a sig pic... of course I use them elsewhere.  I'm hoping that game, [along with Mighty Final Fight, Chase H.Q. Dead Fox, Spartan X2 and Super Mario USA] comes in no later than Wednesday as I ordered it mid last week.  Usually EMS from Japan doesn't take that long.  Just offering.

I have a complete in box  Zelda 2; Link's Adventure for my Famicom Disk System, but it is missing the card board label that fits in the disk casing that shows the cover art and has the end label saying the game title. If some of you guys understand what i'm talking about and also have the game and that piece of cardboard, could one of you please make a scan of it for me? I hate to look at the end labels of all my games and see that this one doesn't have one. Thanks! :)

For Jedi QuestMaster:

SMALL VERSION:
------------------------

BIG VERSION:
------------------------

if neither sizes are the correct size and you need the label smaller, I can put up a ridiculously larger one, but I figured both would be around the area of what you would need to work with.  Hope this helps out, I'm just pumped up that my parcel came in... already going nuts on Mighty Final Fight, as I had never had the pleasure of playing this before today.

PEACE OUT!

Awesome, thanks!

But could I just ask one favor: could you scan it in 300dpi?  Otherwise it'll come out to about 1.8X0.8 inches :-\

By the way, nice sig - but we have a rule against image sigs. :(

They even put them on the pirates :D
Nice job on the label design though, it's very nice and professional..hey FamicomFreak..put that label on your pirate Recca :P

Hi everybody,

First of all, I'd like to thank the brain(s) behind the site and the forums, I found lots of infos and it's been very helpful so far.
(Just registered a couple of minutes ago)

I picked up a copy of Zelda FDS last thursday at Akiba's Super Potato. Sadly, the disk didn't come with the original cover... but it was dirt cheap (300 yens !) so I decided to go for it.

I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to scan the cover of his/her Zelda disk (the one that goes in the crystal case) for me, so I could print it and use it as a replacement ? Something like 300 dpi minimum, even in lightly compressed JPEG should do the trick (but hey, 600 dpi in a non-destructive format would be OK too  ;) )

Thanks in advance, and cheers !

The first post in this thread says Famicom/NES..so I guess I ask this here...

I'm going to Omaha tomorrow (Where I went two weeks ago) and I'm going to Gamers again.  And I decided to get Big Nose if I can get a nice label for it, and I had a few questions:

Should I completely take off the original label before putting on a new one?
What kind of paper should I print the repro label on?
Does anyone have a high-quality scan of the label?

Yup.  I saw one at a used gaming store.  There's a few scratches on the cart, but the label is shit.  It's cheap, though, so I'm going to get the two Camerica games that are there.  The other one is Ultimate Stuntman.  It's in pretty good condition, but I have no idea what Bignose went through :'(

Also, Jedi, I read in an earlier post that you wanted a scan of a SMB3 cart.  If Agent X didn't give it to you yet, I'd be happy to.

Maybe this thread needs moved outta the Disk System section. Anyways, here's a pic of my cart; if you want a scan I can get it to you tomorrow. I have the booklet, too.

I also have the Aladdin Compact Cartridge of Big Nose Freaks Out CIB if that's the one you want.

First of all, yes - I recommend that you take off the original label (I take apart the cart & let it sit in Goo Gone for about a day)

Second, I print onto photo paper - glossed finish.  I then glue it on with photo glue.

To give the label that protective seal, I put wide packing tape over it (but I've been having problems getting the air bubbles out between the seal & the label [I don't know how I didn't have this problem before]).

Thanks for that.  Eric, I'd love it if you could give me a scan of the label.  I don't care when.  Just whenever works best for you.

As for taking the old label off, I've found that just using rubbing alcohol works.  This label is horrible, and if I get the actual picture off, I can rub off that white, fuzzy, sticky residue with alcohol.  But thanks for your suggestion.  Could I get that photo paper at a place like Walmart?

Probably, but you also need a photo printer.  Else you could go to Kinko's & get it printed there, but one time I was told they couldn't do it because it had a copyright label on it. :-\ I was the one who put the copyright label on the label. :P

Oh yeah, hi qual scan - 300 dpi - never hurts to photoshop the blotches.

Damn, I don't have a photo printer, nor would I be able to print it at Kinko's....because of the copyright..maybe they wouldn't notice.  I don't know.  Also, everyone requests 300 dpi, but if a scanner can scan in higher quality, then why not?

Well, the original poster was looking for Famicom and NES related items, and I was under the impression this section was for Famicom and FDS.  Perhaps someone could start a Scan Request thread in other gaming as you've suggested (if there isn't one already).

As for removing stickers and labels in general, I tend to soak them in contact cleaner and scrape it off with a flat razor after sitting for 15 seconds or so.

Also, I emailed the scan to you, nintendodork.

:P -- I was referring to electronic contact cleaner.  Though I have seen the Goo Gone product and considered getting some when I couldn't find contact cleaner (automotive stores tend to have it).  I may try Goo Gone now that you've mentioned it works as well, but contact cleaner works wonders for everything...it kills spiders and roaches instantly and you can even spray right on drywall and it will dry almost instantly with no marks or residue of any kind (so much better than Raid that smells awful, lingers, and doesn't work very well), it cleans CD/DVDs/Blu-Rays etc. extremely well, and I expect does everything Goo Gone can do, etc.  (sometimes my use of contact cleaner reminds of the guy from My Big Fat Greek Wedding "put some Windex" :P)

I'm pretty sure you'll have to size it to fit before printing. Maybe someone here can explain how to do it. What photo editing software do you have?
Title: Re: Scan Requests (label, cover art, manual, box, etc.)

Photoshop 7.  Nothing else.
Title: Re: Scan Requests (label, cover art, manual, box, etc.)
Post by: Jedi Master Baiter on May 23, 2009, 06:56:54 pm
Yeah, make sure the dimensions are right on that.  You can click on 'actual size' to give you an idea.  But don't trust that - check the image size & look at how many cm or inches it is.
Title: Re: Scan Requests (label, cover art, manual, box, etc.)
Post by: nintendodork on May 23, 2009, 10:31:18 pm
I clicked actual size, and it came out huge.  So I resized it, and turned on the ruler, and the dimensions are almost right.  I'm running into a problem, though...I can't make the width larger than the height...and I measured the label in real life, and it's 3 X 2.5 inches.  So here's my current label...
[removed]
Look at the ruler...it's not 3 X 2.5, it's 3 X ~3.7  I don't know how to change it, because if I try changing one dimension, the other changes automatically.
Title: Re: Scan Requests (label, cover art, manual, box, etc.)
Post by: Jedi Master Baiter on May 23, 2009, 11:09:03 pm
Oops, my bad - print size, not actual size.  Of course it will come out big, it will come out in the actual pixels.

Second, what are you using to size it? Crop tool? Make sure in its options it isn't constrained to any proportions, or set it to the proportions you need.  I usually find it in the top left corner somewhere.
Title: Re: Scan Requests (label, cover art, manual, box, etc.)
Post by: nintendodork on May 23, 2009, 11:24:03 pm
Well, I cropped it to get the label alone, as the scan had the whole cart.  Then I went to Image-->Image Size and changed the "Document size"
If I try and change the width to what I want, the height automatically changes and vice-versa

EDIT** Ah, I just realized what you said.  I had that proportions box checked.  I unchecked that, then I set my dimensions like I wanted them.  It now looks like this:
I think that's how I want it.  Should be the right size when it comes out.  Those lines that I couldn't chop off are majorly annoying me, though! >:(

The outer edges? It shouldn't be a big problem - you're going to have to cut anyway.  Looking at Camerica carts, you have some leeway.

True.  Well, I guess I'll print it tomorrow, since I'll be going to Walmart tomorrow.  Also, I was looking for Goo Gone in our house, and I found this...

Lighter fluid (like for a charcoal grill) works really well to get the label glue residue off things. Test it out to make sure it doesn't mess up the gold coloring on the cart, first, though.

I put it on the label, because I'm going to be covering that part later anyway.  I'll edit this post with the results..whenever something happens.  How much should I put on?  I just put a small glob on a napkin and rubbed it on the label.

You have to saturate it pretty well for it to work.

I've had success before using WD-40 and also cooking oil (like corn, canola, olive, etc.) to soften it.

It came out great - it really adds a nice touch to an otherwise plain pirate cart.

can somebody please post some scans from the original Famicom box? Possibly from all sides, I am trying to recreate the original one because I don't have money to buy a boxed famicom...  :-[
I mean THIS box - not the square-buttons one:

Hey I was curious if anyone would be able to scan the front covers of Splatterhouse and/or Dracula Kun for the famicom? I just bought some universal game cases and these are the last two games that I'm lacking decent quality art for.
I'd even pay $5 a piece for scans at 200dpi or higher
(this is my first post, hope slight bribes in non wtb threads aren't breaking any forum rules... just figured this would be a more accurate place to request rather than start a wtb thread)
shoot me a pm or email if you can help

in regards to requesting high ticket items, whoever is scanning this stuff should put a tiny "repro" watermark somewhere on the image, that way people cant be fooled in the long run.
Title: Re: Scan Requests (label, cover art, manual, box, etc.)
Post by: L___E___T on April 10, 2012, 04:13:47 am
It's a shame, because that (for me) ruins the point of it in the first place.  I really hate that with repro carts and labels.

But still, I guess it's a tricky situation.  I'd prefer if there was a subtle difference that is somewhat obvious, such as mirrored artwork or similar that showed it was a repro in an elegant way, but that stoppped people cashing in on the scans and exploiting them.

Hello Famicom World.

I know this is a hefty request, but I need a few scans. I am going to be working on a CIB translation of Yume Penguin Monogatari for the NES.

The problem is, it is very difficult to find a CIB to translate. I humbly request scans of the front/rear box, entire manual, and the cart label. I would need them to be in at least 600 dpi.

If you can help me out, please send me a PM. Thank you.

Here is a little sample of my work: http://www.slideshare.net/segertar/final-fantasy-iii-manual-101

And my next translation project: http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=5&threadid=77548&StartRow=1

You're right the back of the box scan was not very clear who ever scanned it, scanned it in a low dpi and the front is squished a tad but its the best image I could find the universal game case are bigger than the official boxes so the image has to be expanded some. I guess someone who is really talented with Photoshop could do better.

I think it's a good job - but I'm not keen on the universal strip approach places like the cover project use - you don't need it for these covers.

Like I said it's good, but if you took the pulseline off you could use the original art without squishing it.
The pulseline itself doesn't make sense as the game isn't by Nintendo, or from the Famicom Mini selection, or from the inital pulseline catalogue.

But it looks nice. I made a theme fopr a PSP emulator with it before for the same reasons :)

Yeah I agree with you as well. The problem is a filler is needed because the art's scan size. I'm considering ordering some European DS cases as they can be modded to fit famicom carts really well and I would not have to stretch the art as much

Thanks  I actually used the middle scan from that site the real issue is the back I may try to use the top image and re-do the front as well with that top image I guess he got from a poster or something the only issue is the logo's are in the wrong location to replicate the original front cover it would take a little more work but I think its possible.

I could use the american version for the back as there is a perfect scan for that but I've been trying to avoid that if possible.I'm thinking of asking my friend to just shrink the front and back image and put some sort of grey border and get rid of the red pulse line stuff

I think the art looks nice, though maybe a higher resolution would be nice.  Think the pulse line looks okay too.  Are we trying to go for authenticity here, or unification?  If for authenticity, then it has to go for sure, but if that is the case, why not just collect the original boxes to begin with?  If going for unity, then I think the pulse line would look nice on all of the custom art for the cases, if you did this for all your games.

No one has scans for that game and if they did they won't pass them on - it's an invite to a slew of fakes appearing on eBay, despite all best intentions.

That's why you'll only find low res images on google (mostly).

I'd take a low res scan, I'd take a scan with a watermark. I'd take anything. My game is a pirate n I've no intention of advertising it as anything but and no intentions of Relisting it. Just hoping someone would have a scan so I don't have to try make one myself badly.

Hi everybody,
I'm looking for "Metroid" cartridge label (pirate, fds-conversion). See in attach.
300 dpi minimum, 600 dpi in a non-destructive format would be fine!

Thanks in advance!

Do you have the game without a label?  If you scan this at 300 dpi it'll look gash - the label isnt great quality but I suppose a pirate label is always poop geuine or not.

I don't have this game. I have a US Metroid, famirom repro. I just want to find this label.

If anybody has a front page scan (including spine) of the Zelda 1 manual (FDS) that'd be swell. It might've been posted in this thread somewhere but most (if not all) photobucket links no longer work. :link:
Thanks!

I believe the spine is blank, but you're in luck as there is a decent scan of the manual I found:

Spoiler
Step 1:
Search Google for "Zelda FDS manual".

Step 2:
Click the first result.

Step 3:
Click the first hyperlink thereafter.

Step 4:
Enjoy the scans.

Thanks a lot for the scans! I think the spine just had "ゼルダの伝説" on it with the usual famicom mascot above it. That's what Link's Adventure looks like. Not really a problem though, I can probably just scan the insert inside the plastic case.
Thanks again! ;D

Does anyone have a scan of the manual for Wizardry I or II (Knight of Diamonds)? I'm curious to know if these are different than the US manuals. The art style in Wizardry games in Japan seemed to diverge completely from the PC games. I'm wondering if that started with the first Famicom game? (The NES manual has a noticably more series look to it than the Apple II, which had a lot of tongue-in-cheek comics).

If anyone has a gimmick! manual and could take pics of the pages, it would help :)

Anyone can help me with a high-res scan of Dracula 2 card for FDS?  I can't find a high-res one online, nor a high-res one of the key art in its whole.

I can't scan the handbill because it has writing all over it, so that won't work either :(

I have the Disk Writer manual, but it's all in black and red...

The NES art has the silver Konami stripes all down the sides, so otherwise I'm lost.

If nobody has it I'll have to try and buy a copy to scan.

I also found this which could be helpful for a lot of requests - just raw uploads in high-res:

Title: Re: Scan Requests (label, cover art, manual, box, etc.)
Post by: P on February 09, 2014, 10:18:19 am
Hmm yeah the diskcard is scanned together with the disk and plastic case. You could maybe make something out of the file "cv2-offart8.jpg" and add the logo manually. The logo could be taken from "cv2-offart9.jpg" and use the pictures of the front and back as a reference. Wasn't there a template for FDS obi somewhere on the forum?
Title: Re: Scan Requests (label, cover art, manual, box, etc.)
Post by: L___E___T on February 09, 2014, 11:52:57 am
Oh I don't need it for an obi, I need it for a cartridge label.  The problem is, the main art image is cropped - the only place it exists in full uncropped is actually on the FDS inlay card, but there isn't a good scan of it anywhere online.  It needs to be super hi-res, the scans/images I have found found are small.

It's ok, I'll design the template for now, then get the game later and scan the inlay card - I can quickly swap it out afterwards.
Title: Re: Scan Requests (label, cover art, manual, box, etc.)
Post by: P on February 09, 2014, 01:24:28 pm
Oh didn't notice it was cropped!

Yeah hi-res scans are very hard to find since it takes up bandwidth. Maybe you could share yours if you get it. I have some decent scans I could share too. I don't get why some people upload scans of whole manuals with such a low resolution that it's totally unreadable.

If somebody has this game CIB in very good condition, could you please make the scans of it?

As for the manuals, I am not sure if they will be needed, but I posted some manual scans of mine on my blog.

That last one actually was a scan I had done years ago, of the two boxes.  ;)

I would gladly rescan that box, but it went AWOL at some point (I fear someone had sticky fingers and swiped it from my brother's luggage, as it was seemingly missing from his suitcase when he came for a visit.  Then again maybe my brother had forgotten to put the box in his luggage, but he seemed convinced it was there.

Is there a site like the cover project that has all of the box scans (but for famicom games BOTH front, back and side) I see people have posted some good scans but there's no database (that I know of) to find the games I need without digging through pages of posts and possible broken links. I hate the look and the size of universal game cases (seems like so much wasted space for small famicom games) so I've been wanting to make cases for all my games out of the cheap namcot clamshell cases. Has anyone tried doing this before? I'm hoping of doing this for 100+ games.  ;D

While I don't have any famicom boxes if people need scans of japanese covers/manuals of super famicom, mega drive, n64, gamecube, ds or even wii, wii u or 3ds games let me know.

Nice and official looking - It's lovely, but why is it so small?  Could you share a larger image?  In this thread we do our best to accommodate the requests and share and share alike.

So, part of that is returning the favour with something you create so that we can all benefit - it also means future requests are much more likely to get responded to that way.

I searched for a good while to find you a label but couldn't, however I did my best.  You created something great in the meantime, it almost looks like something Enix would have created themselves.

Hi first time poster here.  I recently got my first Famicom game Contra!  The label seems badly damaged though, and I was looking for a good quality scan, which I found on this forum.  The only problem is that I can't find a good scan for the spine/ top of the cart which displays the title.  Can anyone help me out? I'd really like a nice, clean looking label for my cart!

So, I have the following request...

Recently, I got Supervision 64-in-1 multicart for Famicom. My cart looks like this:
(https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/10410380_926198004076710_2005096446883174406_n.jpg?oh=10946be8cdfdc625e47973b220f6929f&oe=54E103F0&__gda__=1425334470_2dc3335bbd01eaf8a2c6702b77c7fa7f)

I wonder if there exist the same multicart, which had the back label, where there was a full list of included games on the cart.
for example, this pirate multicart has such label:

If there really was such label for Supervision 64-in-1 cart, could someone make a scan for it? I just want to slightly update my cartridge. :)
Thanks in advance.

That 64 in 1 is a common multicart, I think I might have a couple copies of it for sale.  Unfortunately I just moved my computer out to the main room of my apartment, away from my scanner, to satisfy my little kitten (so he can be with me when I am using the computer)  If I can get my apartment straightened up and the scanner moved where I can rehook it to my computer, I will scan the back for you.

AlexRUS,

I have that multicart (but a shorter cart) with front and back labels. I attached pics (sorry if they are blurry - I don't have a scanner).

Here is the front:

(http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/t364/arb2261977/Forum%20Ads/20141202_165052-1-1_zps44vkwpsi.jpg) (http://s1056.photobucket.com/user/arb2261977/media/Forum%20Ads/20141202_165052-1-1_zps44vkwpsi.jpg.html)

Here is the back:

I know 600 DPI is a good resolution to scan at, but what is a good, non destructive format to save in?

I agree that The Cover Project is a good start, but doesn't have everything.  I wouldn't mind some move covers and disk labels for FDS games.

Saving as PNG is always a good format - no nastiness on the image.

Alex, I have two (maybe more) of that same cartridge, same case too.  it has same back label as the other one posted, with the list of games in Chinese.  My scanner is broke, it seems, but if the pics posted are not good enough for you, I can try to take some as well.

So, I have the following request...

Recently, I got Supervision 64-in-1 multicart for Famicom. My cart looks like this:

I wonder if there exist the same multicart, which had the back label, where there was a full list of included games on the cart.
for example, this pirate multicart has such label:

If there really was such label for Supervision 64-in-1 cart, could someone make a scan for it? I just want to slightly update my cartridge. :)
Thanks in advance.

The scans would be more preferrable, but if you can make some high quality photos of that back label, then I'll accept it. ;)

I have a newer issue of this 64-in-1 cartridge. On the back the names are in chinese and engrish.

Damn - I must scan the backside again. The text isn't so good. Done.

I have the following request:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5af7n_ksIXPa3FScGEtLXBNMU0/edit?usp=docslist_api

I recently got this cartridge.
It's AV Poker by Hacker International, but the label is all torn out.
I know that Oreanor had the cartridge with the same label: http://www.oreanor.host-ed.me/img/tvgame/PeekABooPoker.jpg
But it's the photo and it's a bit blurry. :(

Does anyone have this cartridge and a good scanner? Could you please scan the label in high quality? :)
Thanks in advance!

Is it to make a repro of the gold version?  That's going to be contentious.

I'll move this to the scan requests thread at some point.

Hello. Here I am seeking all the variations of the 7 to 1 to complete restoration in high definition. They are presently five species found. Interested in a good photo to the lower right in order to cover adjustments (used very bad picture for recovery). Well, on the second photo is represented by 5 option in very poor condition. I am looking for the same cartridge for remastering. We need to be seen all the characters are erased at the upper band and the lower part of the cover to see completely. In general all who are interested to see all the options of the cartridge, ask for help.

Might be a bit late, but I just scanned it for you (or anyone who is interested in it as well). The scans are of a twin famicom insert, tough.

The rar file contains psd-files with correct measurements and thickness (took them with a ruler :( ) and the "raw" files as well, just like in the preview attached, but with a higher resolution.

Have fun.

I'll have to check if I have any scans people are looking for, but in the mean time a bunch of scans are going up right now on my website (https://www.supercom32.net). Currently I'm working on getting FDS scans up, but right after I'll be doing Famicom scans. I think I have about 100+ FDS scans uploaded right now. You can see which ones are uploaded by viewing the download sections.

PS: Unfortunately to get any meaningful download access, users need to make at least 50 posts (to prevent hit-and-runs), but generally speaking, this is a pretty easy target to hit. Just talking about regular retro gaming subjects would get there quite easily.

Best place to look is here:  http://www.nintandbox.net/index.php/en/nintendo-boxes-project/SuperNES-SuperFamicom  - make sure you set filters for searching.

Other places are:  http://www.snescentral.com/displaylist.php?id=carts

The Cover Project is also useful, but mostly US scans and mainly box, not cart scans:  http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cover_id=13141

Hope those help in the meantime.

Yes it is for strictly personal use. I have some pretty badly damaged labels on some games. Also discolored cases so this will go a long way to making them look better.

Any chance of reviving this thread for a scan of Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa? The main insert paper, and mine is missing the B side label. However I wouldn't ask someone to rip off their label just to scan it. I can always just trim it off of the whole side of the disk if someone would be willing to make those two scans for me.

Thanks everyone.

Post by: P on August 10, 2017, 02:51:24 am
Great site indeed! Too bad it doesn't have manuals.

Mini translation to navigate the site:

あ行 - a-row (a, i, u, e and o)
か行 - ka-row (ka, ki, ku, ke and ko)
さ行 - sa-row (sa, shi, su, se and so)
た行 - ta-row (ta, chi, tsu, te and to)
な行 - na-row (na, ni, nu, ne and no)
は行 - ha-row (ha, hi, fu, he and ho)
ま行 - ma-row (ma, mi, mu, me and mo)
や~わ行 - ya~wa-row (ya, yu, yo, wa and wo (although I think no game title starts with a wo))
非売品 - Not for Sale games
おまけ 全ソフトラベル一覧 - Omake all game labels

So to for example to find Metroid, click on the ma-row (ま行) and to find Knight Move, click on the na-row etc.
Note that "k" also includes "g", "s" also includes "z", "t" also includes "d" etc, so to for example find Gal Force click on the ka-row.

Would it not be easier and better result to redraw it in Photoshop?  It's relatively simple artwork and typography.

Since Google changed their image search functionality it's a bit harder to find exactly what you might be looking for :(

It says that Family Computer・Famicom is a trademark of Nintendo. Interesting since I think we established some time ago that Nintendo wasn't able to trademark "Famicom" because Sharp owned that name on their ovens (Family Convection Oven).

On Mr Splash it just says Project Efu, or Project F.

Google is the best first place to look and first port of call - this is a pretty decent scan - phone cameras today are so good after all:

But it could also be that I was looking for pictures of just the label, off of the cartridge itself. I think this can work too, though.

No worries, the labels aren't really removable - as in they won't just peel off, so for any cart scan you're generally going to see a scanned cart.  You can get the labels off easily with alcohol type solution, but it'll wreck the label.

Hello!

Along with the manual in the NES version of Legend of Zelda, there is a 'Maps and Strategies' pullout.

It looks like this:

I'm really interested to know if a similar pullout came with the FDS version of Zelda 1, or the 1994 Famicom Cartridge release.

If such a thing exists, I would be forever grateful for scans of this.

I'm researching for a project/video essay at the moment and this would be like finding the Holy Grail for me, hahah.

Thank you!

I can't see any of the pictures.

AFAIK the FDS versions did not come with a map, that was only for the NES.
There should be at least 2 FDS versions: a Disk Writer version with a fold-out manual and a retail version with a booklet manual (I heard some Disk Writer versions also had a booklet variant though). The fold-out is typically a monochrome and more compact version of the booklet, made cheaper since Disk Writer versions were often expected to be overwritten later by a newer game making the manual useless.

The ROM cartridge version however was released in 1992 (which is even after ALtP was released) and it does contain a Japanese version of the map.
The manual is also slightly changed. For example the Pol's Voice enemy is no longer said to be weak to sound (despite this weakness being implemented in this version of the game unlike the NES versions). It kinda sounds like they had planned to remove this feature and make them weak to arrows instead like in the NES versions (since it's probably the same ROM the NES version is based on), but that was not the case (and that would also mean they would have to change the Japanese text and confuse Japanese players who'd played the FDS version).

I scanned my version years ago and here it is:
https://easyupload.io/7pn8v0 (Temporary link that lasts only 30 days, sorry about that!)
It's not the best of scans but everything should be fully readable. A few characters on the map were lost in the folds during scanning, so I've photoshopped them back in to make it readable. Again not a perfect job as the characters I've added are much darker.
