Title: Online Famicom Stores
Post by: AlexKunio on March 27, 2012, 02:00:19 pm
Hi!

I'm new here (well, I've been lurking for awhile).  I heard about the site on Nintendo Age.  I just stumbled across a site called famicomdepart.jp, and I was curious if you guys know any other good online stores that are Japan-only / not specifically marketed as import stores.  I'm not a huge Famicom collector, mostly just a few things that were never released on the US NES, but I like to browse these types of sites and see what is around  :)

I know of the big obvious ones like Yahoo Auctions Japan, Rakuten, Amazon.co.jp, etc, but was wondering if there are any smaller more classic gaming targeted sites like the one I mentioned above.

Just to follow up on 80sFreak`s suggestion, you should check out some of the Japan-based members` sales pages which have a pretty good selection for browsing and better prices than you will find at online stores:

Outside of here there is always Super Potato`s site, which has a very large selection for browsing:

Famicomdepart is nice, but their selection isn't always the best.
Superpotato was mentioned... there's also http://www.famicom.biz/ (http://www.famicom.biz/), http://www.otakaraou.com (http://www.otakaraou.com) and of course Yahoo auctions and amazon marketplace.

Thanks for all the suggestions.  I'm wasting plenty of time at work browsing them.   :-[

I'm a CIB collector, and was also curious if some of you guys living in Japan find that any of the stores there sell "pieces" like boxes and manuals or if it's strictly CIB or cart-only.

When it comes to NES collecting, it's fairly easy to just find a missing manual you need, which doesn't seem to be the case for Famicom (at least here in the US).

Here are my main sources, but I always try to check the forum before I shop using other sites:

GameBaz (http://www.gamebaz.com/)
Genki (UK) (http://www.genkivideogames.com/)
Tokyo Toy Factory (http://tokyotoyfactory.jp/)
