Ok, pretty sure there is no thread for this.

I'm sure we've all at one time or another spent a good portion of our time downloading music, be it video game music, movie music, whatever. As best as you can recall: What one item took the longest time to download on your computer? and was it worth it?

For me, I spent 2 hours downloading the Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver Super Complete soundtrack on some weird japanese site that had the hold album in one link that I found through the galbadia hotel forums. Those forums are my best source for video game and movie music, but boy did I suffer. It was 370 Mb and 270 tracks. It took 2 hours.

It wasn't worth it because I was unable to extract more than 1 track.  >:(

But I found another 1 which uploaded it by disc, which there's 3 apparently through mediafire.
Now you're playing with Power

Back in the days of dialup, I once downloaded a ~600 MB video file. I used a download manager and it took several nights. I wasn't able to leave it connected 24/7 because of phone hogging issues and also because it was too expensive to go online during the day (this is back when you were billed by the second).

At 33.6 Kbps, a 650 MB CD takes 43 hours to download. We were a lot more patient back then.
Now I get really impatient if my streaming HD videos don't start playing right away. ::)

I spent a few days (three, I think...) downloading Office 2000 with a dial-up modem.

A few years ago, when i was using a modem with dial up connection, i once downloaded and dreamcast ISO, yeah..and ISO. It was just about 150 Mb but with a 4 kb/s per second was awesome.

It took me all night long  ;D

I once waited like two days(on broadband!) while torrenting Fallout 3. Imagine my happiness when I discovered it didn't work with my graphics card.

Interesting thread!
The good old days... I think the longest I took downloading some anime album was several weeks using a download manager. I remember the awesome speed of 0.4kb/sec.  :P
Internet was expensive and I couldn't be connected for several hours straight.

And with the connection I have now I can download a 4.4GB DVD ISO in under 20 minutes.

Dial-up sucked but it's over now! I did like the binary screaming when you first started it up.

I had one of those newfangled WinModems and it made the telephone sound come from your sound card speakers, but my friend had an external modem and that one had a built-in speaker.

Listening to that sound again really brings back memories. :'( But at the same time I'm glad those times are long gone. :P

I also recall using phone cards to go online a couple of times. It was a complicated process involving manual dialing and tweaking settings, but it worked like a charm when I was blocked from using the Internet. ::)

Haha, there's a name I haven't heard in a while :D

Gator and BonziBuddy also come to mind. ::)

FamicomRetroGamer

Sonic the Werewolf <- Downloaded from Sega's FTP took me a few days to get it, at first they were pretty fast but it got slow each time.

And I couldn't even pause or it would restart all over again.

I have it now, awesome quality and seeing Sonic in HD is sweet.
