I've recently been playing a fair bit of Kaettekita Mario Bros. on the FDS, and found out that when the game was released it was supported with a scoring competition. Basically, score 100,000 points and you get a code to mail in to be entered to win some Mario playing cards. Score 200,000 or more and you win a copy of Super Mario Bros. 3!

Found the details here:

Obviously the contest is over now, but how cool would this have been as a kid? With limited money to buy more games, I would have trained all day long to reach the 200,000 point mark.

Have you played Kaettekita Mario Bros? If so, have you beaten the 200,000 point mark?

Yes, I have got 200,000 points in the game before. A really weird cutscene plays when you do, showing Mario and Luigi in sort of elvish hats. I like the way you can save the top five high scores in this version. I've gotten to around stage 45 and 390,000 points, more than double the previous owner's high score. In the GBA version I've gotten to around stage 75. I've never beaten the game though.

I assume 99? I have no idea though.

Beat 200,000 to win a game cart of SMB3 though. That sounds like winning to me.
