Help! Zig Zag Cat Help!

Could someone help me get through Zig Zag Cat?  I've watched the longplay on YouTube, but I have a different ending.  The YouTube ending has you go through first door after you kiss the princess, and there is a treasure chest off to the right. Roll Credits!  My current playthrough I have a guard in front of that door and there is a hole with a ladder where the treasure chest was sitting.  When I go down the latter there's 3 stones that I can put Jewels on but I only have one jewel.  It also gives me the ability to go to stage 1-5 in the same area.  Thanks in advance for any guidance that can be provided!
