What is the best port of a game that came out after the 8-bit Era ported to the Famicom? Example : Sonic, New. SMB, GTA, etc. Post pictures here if you can. ;D

Super Aladdin seems pretty good from what I hear. I also am one of the 5 people that enjoy Somari!

I have an Aladdin port on a 6 in 1 cart! It's an okay port. I'm not exactly sure if it is the one you are talking about but I will upload video from my cap card if I can.

I categorize them:

If it's the SNES version, and Aladdin himself has a big sprite and shading, you've got the Hummer Team version.

If Aladdin's movement is a bit choppy, the first level's music is Prince Ali, and it has opening cutscenes, it's Super Aladdin.

If Aladdin wears a FREAKING TURBAN there's two possibilities:

- It's a side scrolling shooter (Magic Carpet 1001)
- It's a really crappy horrible platformer (Aladdin II, by Chengdu Tai Jing Da Whatchamacallit Computer Co)

I have always been fond of Earthworm Jim 3, but it could have been amazing with more levels. It was a nice port but as with most pirates was only a demo. :/

I have Magic Carpet 1001 on the same cart. But that's not the one I'm talking about. It looks like the SNES/Genesis game but on the famicom... It sucks. The movement is choppy and it's one of those games were the only palettes are Brown and Green and Yellow. YUCK! I'll upload a video to YouTube tomorrow.

The lion king (snes port) was pretty good in my opinion.

I'm also tempted to say Alter Ego, but no-one mentioned Super Mario World and Zelda: A Link to the Past?

I interpret "best port" as a actually good games that makes the original game justice (or as close as possible to that).

Ports like Super Mario World and A link to the Past are technologically impressive but I wouldn't call them good ports.

There are ports of Pokemon Red, Blue, Green, Gold, etc. for the famicom but I don't know if they are any good because I never played one. I'm not talking about the Pokemon Side-Scrolling game on Famicom, or The Pokemon 4 in 1 cart. Some look fairly well made. But the music is kinda crummy.

I'll second LET's love of Alter Ego. I just picked up an NES repro of that, and I loved it immediately.
