I wanted to buy one for a long time, but I was dissuaded when I heard that unless you have RGB going into it, it still looks bad on an HD television.
Then I got one as a gift and could test it, and this was the result

Not a great representation since its a photo off of the screen but it does look quite a bit better, even if I just put RCA through a rca-scart adapter and then into the converter.
For me it's still kind of nicer to play Famicom on a big tube TV for nostalgia or on an emulator for the very best picture but this works well too in my opinion.

I have the same adapter, never used it with a composite signal though, didn't even realise that would work.

I've also got a scart scanline generator and the results are wonderful. Have used it with a pc engine, master system and my rgb modded fami twin.

Still prefer to use my pvm though, the image on that thing is isanely beautiful, perfect even.

Hi Def NES is coming soon-ish: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9gUVcU1N-c
no need to mess with these crappy upscalers.

Another alternative is the framemeister upscaler, I use one with a NESRGB-modded famicomAV and it's just stellar.
