Does anyone here suffer from psoriasis?

You guys might remember that several months back I had made a post in regards to my skin always getting cracked.  I have been getting cracked skin since the 4th grade, though it was always just during the winter months of Pennsylvania, USA, since the air was always dry and cold.

For whatever the reason, last year around July or August I started having some problems with my skin getting cracked on my hands, and I just figured it was once again caused by some climate conditions.  But this time, something was different, as the problem never seemed to clear up properly.  I would purchase intense healing creams and what not, but to no avail.  I then did some research online and saw that some people had these problems, due to a vitamin C deficiency, since I don't always eat properly (single man, always busy, always just grabs some local food and not many vegetables).  So I then started to make a conscious effort to intake many vegetables in a day, and also to take vitamin C tablets.  Well, things started to get better, but then they became a standstill again, no healing.  Hmm..

Then the lightbulb went off in my head.  As much as I hate doctors, here in Taiwan it is very cheap to visit a doctor.  So instead of buying cream again, I went to the specialist, and he said that maybe I have a (mild) case of psoriasis.

The doctor also said I could go to the hospital and get a biopsy and get further information, should I choose, and he gave me some stronger cream that has thus far been working wonders on the healing process.  I feel undecided if I will go for further tests or not, it just depends how things heal and what not, how things progress from here.

So I just wonder does anyone here have (or know someone with) psoriasis?  Man, I hate getting older, I long for the days of being young and thin, and not needing sleep.  Hahaha.

I know someone with it - docs said it can be treated with diet and exercise.  He wasn't willing - but I know you are quite active anyway and eat sensibly, sorry that's not much help.

Actually, I am not terribly active, and I think my diet is not so good either.  Do you know what sort of things can help treat this?

I don't mind being active, and actually enjoy running, cycling, etc.  But that time aspect always gets in the way, and so busy times then exercise is the first thing to go.  But I think anyone that runs half marathons can't be too inactive, if you know what I mean.

To be honest, when I first heard the doctor tell me that he thought I had this condition, I felt a little sad, a little ashamed / embarassed.  I mean, no one wants to hear that they have some poor health condition like this, and to just be honest, no one wants to worry that someone else will judge them over it either.  But I don't even know if the doctor's guess is correct or not, and furthermore, in the end I realize there is nothing to be ashamed of, so.

You should probably see a specialist if you think it's likely to be true, but don't feel bad - it's genetic I think.  there's probably a lot of guidance online - heck you could just be allergic to something you didn't realise.  Psoriasis is actually quite common from what I hear, certainly do not feel bad.
