I ordered some relatively good looking pads from the ebay store of this site :

My Famicom controllers do not work very well, some of the rubber pads have cracks in them.  Because the NES-004 controller and the Famicom controllers look like they use the same rubber controller pads, I decided to take a chance.  The pads arrived today and fit very well, are very similar to the real Nintendo pads, and work surprisingly well.  They will not work miracles if your controller PCB is shot.  I'd recommend them.

The description says they're slightly more stiff. What do you think? Is there a noticeable difference?

Well, if you have a real NES controller with rubber pads in good shape, they are a little more stiff or mushy by comparison.  Time will tell how the break in, but this is essentially like an analog copy, good but not a perfect replica.  However, as replacement for broken and worn out pads, I'm not sure they can be beat except by taking pads from a Nintendo product.
