Hello,
I got ahold of two games that died working on me for no reason
Castlevania and Metroid

I have 2 copies of Metroid, they would initially boot up normally but get some kind of error later on and just stop working at all.

Then I have this copy of Castlevania, it previously had save data, so I make a new file, play it and beat the first stage, decide to save my progress, all of a sudden I get an error 23 screen, try to reboot the game,it stopped working, it just shows disk error 23.

I should note that I'm using a Retrobit famiclone(it works with the FDS but doesn't output the extra soundchip).

I don't know what to do, the games just died on me  :'( :'( :'(

If anyone knows a solution, I'd appreciate it!

Err. 23 = Disk card header block #$02 unrecognized

I guess the famiclone is causing this.

zubario

so you're saying that using an original famicom could make them work again?

HVC-Man

Yeah, find an original Famicom and test your FDS and games with it. When problems like this come up, the process of elimination is essential.

I am not sure if I'll purchase a Famicom to try this, but has this ever happened to anyone? (game not working with clone but works with the original hardware)

P

Happens all the time for people.

Error 23 shouldn't happen unless there's something wrong with the disk, but then it would detect it already at boot, so there's something funny going on, possibly because you use a Famiclone.
