Working/living in Japan

So I got this crazy idea to teach English in Japan after I graduate from college. This wouldn't be for at least two years, so this is all curiosity right now. I have a few questions for all those living in Japan.

Would I be able to get by on a day to day basis with no knowledge of Japanese?

How is the Japanese public towards Americans?

Is Japanese culture something I would have a problem adapting to?

Where are the best game stores? lol

I wanted to do that after college, too, but I wanted to go to Spain, Chile, or Prague.  Never did it, though. I have friends from college who did it for a few years, all of them had great experiences, but it didn't really pay enough to be anything other than an experience.

Yeah I'm not doing it for the money. I've never been outside of North America, and want to experience other parts of the world before settling into a career and such. Also, I'm an education major and after teaching abroad I'd pretty much get a job anywhere.
