If I were you, I'd just continue in school and work part-time. If you join the military and get killed or injured for the rest of your life, seems like a crappy payout to me just because you'll lose college credits. Then again, I respect those who want to join and fight, but don't 100% believe in our government to do things for all the right reasons. Personally, I'd rather swim across the ocean before I'd fight to keep some already-rich bastards rich.

I don't respect our leadership but the military can be a solid career move. I have no plans to go into any combat oriented M.O.S. so I don't have as big a risk of loosing the top of my head. And i'm not just wanting to join over credits, I'm looking for a solid life. You might have to move and shit but it is a life where you know that your family is taken care of and so are you. And in 20 years you can retire. Those are the aspects that appeal to me, and i like routines.

Anyways, i still haven't signed anything, i still need to get in better shape to pass the initial physical.

You're right, sir.

Some people say good things about it, others hate it. You'll have to be there to really make an opinion. It largely depends in what field and when you're doing your service.

Not to derail the thread, but do you know if service is mandatory for everyone? Or just citizens, or just men, or what? I think it's just men, but I don't really know.

In Germany service is mandatory for all men. There is substitutional service for people who don't want to serve in the armed forces, though.
Best way not to have to serve is having bad results in the physical examinations.  :P (My result was a 2, which is "good")

Ah thanks, that's what I thought.
