This is great. I've tried to figure this out knowing nothing about the internal technical aspects of these games.
Are these listed in order -- the first use of the engine to the last? I'm curious which were the original games and which were later versions or "hacks."

1) Just play the game few minutes and compare it with 3 or 4 games (on by the same company, the other by another company to see if it has something related.
2) Well, if you are talking about the order of the game (under company list), I tryed to put them in order of release but I don't think the games released later are a hack of the game released first. Because when a company have the engine, they don't need to hack the game to reproduce the engine (exept for few thing like KoF96)

Just a suggestion, I think the first game known to be released with that engine would be awesome if known as well!

No, it is not.
As far I know, Harry's Legend was made after N.T. disappeared (When NT changed to VT, GT or whatever) And JY wasn't working with Hummer Team anymore.
It's more likely they sold the game to random companies. It may be why it was released by many different companies.
