Munchausen Flash Cart
«
on:

It would appear this project has completely died, I have seen no new information or anything at all. Weren't we supposed to see it for sale back in January or something like that.
I am saddened as I was really wanting to own one of these.
Has anyone found any new information?

Schedules and homebrew don't really have anything in common

This is basically the concept that retrozone has done with the Powerpack flash cart. Only the powerpack uses compact flash cards and does not do any of the light tricks. It is alot more user friendly, but the price is a bit steep.

This serves as an interface between a PC and an NES/FC. The Powerpak does not.
Quoting arfink from another forum:

One other thing- the PowerPak does not allow runtime modification of the rom. Properly used, the Munchausen cartridge can have its data changed on the fly. This allows coders to use lots of cool tricks by feeding the NES data from their PC while it's running. It also makes this cartridge better for doing stuff live (chiptune, VJ, whatever) since you don't have to restart the NES, re-pick a ROM, etc etc, because the data can be manipulated on the fly if you want. This cartridge gives the developer (and subsequently the user) alot of extra freedom.

Oh ok. I did not know that it was capable of being an interface via pc and nes. Thanks for the info.

Seems as though they are getting very close to being released, I am overly excited!

I have got to the point where I no longer believe it will be released because they told us years ago it was nearly done and still updates say the same thing.

I wanted one, but I was never really sure what it did that the Powerpak didn't. I just thought it looked nicer, as a Famicom cart.
OK you can adjust data on the fly, but I'd rather just make amends in a ROM and test in an emulator once I know what I'm doing I guess.

Well, it's officially shelved? This makes me sad as I looked forward to owning a Munchausen for years now.
Disappointed.

At least he's giving his work away for someone else to continue it. I'd still buy one if it ever came out.
