I've only recently gotten into famicom collecting. (As in I only have two games, Tetris and Namco Star Wars).

Thing is I don't speak or read a lick of Japanese, what are some titles you (the reader) would recommend for me to buy that are either cheaper/more widely available then their NES counterparts and or exclusively available on the famicom or disk system that are either partially in English or would be playable despite me not being able to read them.

NintendoKing

Yie-Ar Kung Fu
Mappy
Ikki
Argus
Tower of Druaga
Hi No Tori
Snow Bros.
New Ghostbusters 2
Akumajou Special: Boku Dracula-kun

These are some of the games that I personally own, and are my most recommended ones.

lobdale

Virtually all non-RPG/adventure games are playable by English speakers.

80sFREAK

Arkanoid, Galaxian, Goonies, Lode Runner......
I don't buy, sell or trade at moment.
But my question is how hackers at that time were able to hack those games?(c)krzy

I've heard new ghostbusters II is good, but I have yet to see a copy.

Cheetahmen

Pretty much any arcade port that wasn't released outside of Japan.
Raf World, which is basically Journey to Silius with a different title screen and main character sprite. ;)
Dragon Slayer IV and Hydlide Special are a couple of RPGs you could play without knowing Japanese, although you're probably better off not playing the latter.
Life is too short to be little.

My copy is a pirate, but I know that Paradius Duh is selling NGB2 on here.

The Rockman (Megaman) series is always a blast. Numbers 3-5 are readily available for cheap too.

MM5 is a lot more than RM5 for sure.

The same thing with Samson vs Lickle (btw I love this game)
Also sconley666 on NintendoAge

I enjoyed Armadillo and Robocco Wars as a kid (and still do!), and this was even before I could read English! Armadillo has some Japanese text, but you don't have to understand it to be able to play the game.

Those I don't see mentioned yet:
Twinbee
Binary Land

Need no language skills and are the two games that got me hooked on famicom (after already being a NES collector).
GRRR!

Thanks for the tip!  I wasn't aware of the Japanese title for that one.
