I remember back in the day over at a buddys house who had a colecovision, and we always had to hook it up to this box that allowed us to use composite video and audio because the tv in his basement coax port was busted out of the tv, and it worked, before that we used a vcr, till his parents baught a laser disc player, which didn't allow us to do the same thing because it didn't have a coax port in the back of it just s video and composite out.

Since it was so long ago I don't know what I should be looking for, if some one can give me a link to a cheap one would be great, but before u do. will I be able to do this with the famicom?

I don't really have a spot for a vcr I was thinking of something more compact,  and I already thought of a vcr but I came here to look for the box I am talking about I wouldn't have came here to ask if I was just going to use a vcr thanks anyways tho

I don't buy, sell or trade at moment.
But my question is how hackers at that time were able to hack those games?(c)krzy

Yeah that would be nice to have it av modded but I'm not very skillled in the soldering part to trust my self to do so. The best I can do is extend a cable lol and if I do mod up my famicom I would wanna do the nes controller port mod as well but finding some one to do it pay them for materials labor and shipping it to them and back would just cost about the same as me buying one that has it already been done oh and a power led mod would be cool to have done to it as well.  :'(  I talked to some one about the av mod but with shipping and everything it was going to come close to 60 usd with shipping and buying the parts/labor, I'm better off using my converter and toaster nes, but I like the famicom a lot more, ever since I got it my nes has been collecting dust, I have also been tempted to get a famicom disk system, sell all my nes games and re buy them for the famicom, thanks to you, manual and sensaiman and a couple other members on here, I got to expirance nintendos first home console with interchangable carts how it was ment to be and I am greatful for it! Lol I know cheese but its the truth!

I give up on the mod scene if I could do it my self I would but I'm not going to chance ruining any of my systems due to my lack of know how.

Here's my problem really

People ask to much for these mods more then what the system is worth, I've seen people sell them for less then what people are asking for to mod them. I'm a type of collector that I don't guy back ups of systems or titles of games I already own, there's no point really and its exspensive, I own only buy differen variations, meaning all togeather has to look different physicly, I don't count different colors.

I live in the united states in a state called minnesota, and the thing about the state of minnesota is thrift stores have descovered, that games are worth something so pretty much ur paying retail very rarely do I pay less due to that fact, its sad I have to even catch the thrift store slipping, even people ate garage sales do the same thing u gott be lucky to catch some one slipping or just doenst know what's they got, and flea markets/swap meets, are and hour or 2 away from where I live. So its not worth the drive with inflating gas prices ill pay that much in gas just to find some one slipping, here the community has caught on very well, that games are worth money some times more then what they are worth really, one thrift store I went to had pokemon games asking 35 bucks each even for the pirates or hacked ones.

The guy wants 75 bucks to mod a snes 2 with a led power and a compoent mod with out shipping,  between getting the parts which I found would cost me 15 bucks for all I need as far as parts, I understand people need to make money but considering I droped 40 on the system plus shipping and parts and labor that will well be over. 100 bucks on just the snes alone, and he doesn't do controller part mods, but yet he can do a composite mod for the famicom, I also asked him if it was possible to do a component mod and he said he can't unless I buy a top loader or a av fami, and who knows how muc he would charge for that, after dropping 100 for a top loader and I don't have a clue what the av fami is worth but I assume its more exspensive then the original fami system, its just not worth it to me really, it would be nice yes but not for the price really, call me cheap if you wish but all collectors try to find deals.

If some one can find me a good soldering tutorial. Ill just. Buy and old device like a vcr or something to practice on the right way,  I can connect 2 wires but actually putting solder on the board I'm not good with that, I found out the hard way with a gba, trying to do a screen mod and a rechargable batter mod by using a sp screen and battery, talk about a mess that was, and my only reason for trying that was I love the form factor of the original gba. My hands get tired trying to play ff crystal chronicles and zelda four swords with my buddies

Doing component mods are much more difficult than composite mods for these old systems. You can't really expect someone to take the time to figure out what to buy, buy it, lay it out, test it, and finalize it and test it again for cheap. You're talking about hours of research and work.

Remember that you get what you pay for, and anyone who does this kind of work cheaply is someone you should avoid. Just my two cents, though. I tend to do these types of things myself, but I enjoy doing this kind of stuff and, most importantly, I want to make sure it works and looks right on my TV.

Buy a Radio Shack soldering iron, some junk PC parts, and go look up tutorials on Youtube. That's how I got started (minus the Youtube, this was a few years back.) Soldering isn't really particularly difficult, but it does require some technique to do well that only comes with experience.

As far as the price of mods go, I fully understand not wanting to pay that much for mods, which is the whole reason I started to do it myself. The thing is, soldering is skill not many people have, and how much is the time of the highly skilled worker worth? If a mod takes an hour or two to do the work, another hour or two to test it, how much is that time worth?

DigitalxxxFr34k

No I understand what you all mean it takes time and labor and all that I get it, I just didn't think it would be that much like no more then possibley what the system it self cost excluding shipping, ya know that's all in a way I was sorta venting, that's why I'm willing to learn for my self, I fix computer and build them as a side job, and I always thought it would be nice to learn how to solder, because my customers would be pleased to know that I have a cheaper mean to fix there computer, like replacing a chip instead of the whole board weather its a graphics card issue or a mother board issues, and it would make me wanna exspand in the arcade scene more as well such as building a custome mame machine and what not, its the fact I don't have good soldering skills and not understanding resistors and the mapping of electronics I see them but its just like a maze u can't wi, for me anyways lol
