Famicom randomly softlocking

Hey guys,

Kinda sad news today :/ today i dug out my av famicom to play some castlevania, only to find out it would randomly softlock after playing for some minutes, and after that not turn on for like half an hour.

Please help me i dont wanna throw it away.

First, make sure your games and system are all clean.

Sounds like some piece of hardware in the AV Fami is heat sensitive now. The first and easiest possible suspect is the 7805 voltage regulator, they do wear out eventually. Find a way to replace it and see if your AV Fami works again.

Yeah it got quite warm but i thought that was normal

I replaced the 7805 with the one of my NES, and everything is running fine now !

Ok i was wrong my famicom just crashed again......
