Title: solved: FDS Belt replaced now only errors?
Post by: Chevy49_be on November 09, 2013, 08:07:06 am
Hello, I've bought two broken fds. Both had a broken belt so I did the replacement as described on:
http://www.famicomdisksystem.com/tutorials/fds-repair-mod/belt-replacement-adjustment/ (http://www.famicomdisksystem.com/tutorials/fds-repair-mod/belt-replacement-adjustment/)
First i took a rubber band as a replacement. It started after the first try  ;D. But after a day I got error 27.
Now I bought some belts via eBay:

But I cant get them to work again?

Does anybody know if these belts are any good?
Is there an other problem?

Sorry to answer my own question, but maybe I can help someone else with with this.

I started over with the tutorial as linked above, and found out i missed one thing:
QuoteIt's important to maintain the correct vertical alignment of the spindle hub, too, so make a note of it before first loosening the set screw. This is the factory positioning of the spindle hub. - See more at: http://www.famicomdisksystem.com/tutorials/fds-repair-mod/belt-replacement-adjustment/#sthash.UaApj1ad.dpuf

As I didn't make note of this it took some time to get it right but after a wile and allot of testing i finally managed tot get it working!

So the good news is: these cheap belts do work (maybe not for ever, but the original didn't last that long either ;) )
