Title: Famicom Prototypes?
Post by: 232stinger on January 21, 2014, 05:57:00 am
There are quite a few pictures online of the NES prototypes with the wireless controllers, tape deck etc. But I haven't found ANY info on the prototypes I assume they made for the Famicom.  Anybody have any info?  Pictures would be awesome.  :help:

You're talking about the Nintendo AVS - that's the Advanced Video System that eventually became the NES.
There is some information on it but you're right, not tons.

I'm afraid I haven't seen anything on the Famicom either.  You'd think there'd be something, but I suppose the damage Atari did just prior to the Famicom's arrival didn't help, so maybe thats gor something to do with why we can't find publicity information before the release?

I have publicity materials that pre-date the NES showing the AVS and promoting it to retail partners, but that's a fair chunk of time after the Famicom had already launched successfully in Japan.
