I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to a place that hosts complete audio rips (music and SFX) from a newer (we're talking ISO) game and makes it available for listening/downloading, or at least tell me if such a thing exists and how I could find it myself. I'm looking specifically for the audio from a couple games made during the sixth generation of consoles. :cherry:
There are sound file formats most sixth-gen consoles: http://www.neillcorlett.com/psf/ (http://www.neillcorlett.com/psf/)
If you search for "PSF archive" or "DSF archive" etc then you can usually find audio rips. Can't really help you beyond that without knowing which soundtracks you're looking for.
Most popular OSTs are up on YouTube, where you can rip them from. Not ideal but quality is fine.
I believe emuparadise and zophars domain have game music and OSTs. Haven't checked either lately.
I have an app called NESmusic on my iPhone - which is brilliant and has pretty much all the OSTs I could ask for, it actually links through to ZD by default to download them.
It's free, or you can pay a dollar to unlock other formats, which I did - GB, SMD, PS1 etc.

Is there an android alternative (galaxy note II) that you know of? I cant fine nesmusic or consolemusic.
The other one I used a lot was Modizer - maybe that has an Android release, but it's more for chiptunes than audio rips.
Nope. Not on the market anyway. Ah well. Ill just bookmark ZD.
I'm looking for all of the sounds from Katamari Damacy for the PS2, and Chibi-Robo and Super Smash Bros. Melee for the Gamecube. It's relatively easy to find the OSTs, but I'm also looking for a way to have all of the sound effects used in those games as well. I figured it'd be as easy as it is to rip all of the textures from a game, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

this link may give some insight. Apparently you can use dolphin emu for gamecube game filesystem access
Problem is, all those sound files will be compressed, they won't be sat there as MP3s for example. Having said that I though Melee's music would be easily available, it's all on Youthbe in extended runs, but the SFX are a different matter.
SSBM had a sound test, so the SFX are all out there on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9xqlboHuiU&list=PL01718D41CDE34212 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9xqlboHuiU&list=PL01718D41CDE34212)
Great, so you can rip all of those now dork? Quality on YouTube is good these days, so you can rip with a web utility and turn it into an MP3.
Hey, that works just fine! The best part of that link UglyJoe posted is that the description contains a MediaFire link to an archive of all of the sound effects already converted to MP3s! That couldn't have been any simpler. ;D
I wish all games had sound tests, as useless as they are to a majority of gamers. :(
Sooooo, what are you using it for? A new video project? Real life Smash Bros?
For sampling in music, actually. I've had an interest in producing electronic music for awhile now and figured I'd take some samples out of left field rather than rehash what I've been hearing for years.
Sounds interesting - do share when you're done! Sounds like exactly what I listen to actually. If your music's anywhere near as good as your photography I'll invest!
I wouldnt mind hearing as well
I belong to a Facebook group called 'Obcure Video Game Music.'
Check it out! Its always surprising what titles are posted, some posters upload the OST themselves, some are linked via Youtube.
