Title: AV Famicom adapter Hz question.
Post by: VikNES on February 05, 2014, 11:59:31 pm
Hey Guys!

I've been collecting NES (pal unfortunately, don't hate ;p) for quite a while now.
I kind of got bored of it, I mean, even if I don't own a certain NES game I still know what it is and have seen it before etc, it's just not that exciting annymore.

So I bougt an AV Famicom on eBay and am waiting for it's arrival. can't wait to have acces to all these weird "new" games.

My question though:
As many of you know the Famicom HVC 002 has 50/60hz written on the adapter.
All searches I did about using a megadrive type 1 adapter say it's OK to do so.
But it's still unclear to me why the fami adapter says 50/60hz and megadrive says only 50hz (see link)

Or is that some kind of 'standard' that just differentiates per country and has no effect?

I just want to be a 100% sure that a Megadrive type 1 adapter is OK to use and not going to damage my console overtime (since I've had to lay down some serious cash for it  :pow:)
I did read the FAQ, but that part is still a bit hard to understand.

Thanks in advance!!

just don't care about HZ unless you'are using 60Hz adapter in 50Hz electrics

remember, don't apply the power with the frequency less than the AC adapter initially designed for
