Title: Famicom Clones (post pictures here)
Post by: fcgamer on March 04, 2014, 08:56:59 pm
I am starting this thread to show some of the various Famicom clones I have obtained over the past few years.  These are just some quick pictures, and if there is interest, I will take better pictures later.

It would be great if some other people could post pictures of their Famicom clones here too, so we could have a gallery of sorts.

Enjoy!

Famicom Cyber Computer - This one had a box at one point, but I was an idiot and threw it out as it was in poor shape and I had to drag it to my gf's parents' house (and I didn't want to look stupid carrying the machine, so I ditched the box and tossed the machine in my backpack).

This is a 8 bit dance mat with a Famicom Dance Dance Revolution built into it.

Y2K Version Plug n Play - I remember these things being sold everywhere in the States one Christmas, but then the big N had busted the vendors.  This model includes one bonus multicart.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/tracker465/IMG_2182_zps26a98f61.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/tracker465/media/IMG_2182_zps26a98f61.jpg.html)

Game Station - Love the box and design on this one, though the console itself is made very cheaply.  Looks like a Play Station with an N64 box!

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/tracker465/IMG_2180_zps34d006b2.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/tracker465/media/IMG_2180_zps34d006b2.jpg.html)

Pokeboy - This one has some games built into it, including a hack of Super Mario Bros. with Pikachu.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/tracker465/IMG_2179_zps7bbce963.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/tracker465/media/IMG_2179_zps7bbce963.jpg.html)

A NES clone by Sachen...this one seems to be PAL only.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/tracker465/IMG_2177_zps36264c0a.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/tracker465/media/IMG_2177_zps36264c0a.jpg.html)

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/tracker465/IMG_2178_zpsce9c6640.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/tracker465/media/IMG_2178_zpsce9c6640.jpg.html)

X Boy - Released by the same company that published a butt load of interesting multicarts.  I really like the box on this one.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/tracker465/IMG_2174_zps37ffa2f4.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/tracker465/media/IMG_2174_zps37ffa2f4.jpg.html)

A keyboard Famicom clone made by Asder of Korea...has some built in NTDEC games, such as Whac a Mole iirc.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/tracker465/IMG_2176_zps7e25462f.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/tracker465/media/IMG_2176_zps7e25462f.jpg.html)

Another generic Famicom clone.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/tracker465/IMG_2170_zps620449d3.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/tracker465/media/IMG_2170_zps620449d3.jpg.html)

Micro Genius IQ 2000

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/tracker465/IMG_2169_zps0d6c2692.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/tracker465/media/IMG_2169_zps0d6c2692.jpg.html)

Another copy of the clone above.  I can get a few more of these (loose, no hookups or anything) if anyone is interested.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/tracker465/IMG_2171_zps257992fc.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/tracker465/media/IMG_2171_zps257992fc.jpg.html)

IQ 501 - Another Micro Genius clone.  This one actually the same design was used for a Dendy clone.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/tracker465/IMG_2172_zps85ef125c.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/tracker465/media/IMG_2172_zps85ef125c.jpg.html)

Dancing TV game

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/tracker465/IMG_2173_zpsce417181.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/tracker465/media/IMG_2173_zpsce417181.jpg.html)

Asang Clone - This is a modern clone, released during the 2000s to go along with some special multicarts containing Waixing games.

That giant cardboard box is a familiar site!  I would like to see more pictures of the plug 'n' play Famicom machine for sure.  Looks really interesting.

What games are in the box on the right?

Hey bro,

I changed some of the pictures as today I had more time to take some better pics.  I still need to take another pic of that plug n play though.

The games in the box on the right are just some licensed and unlicensed Sega MD stuff.  I am actually hoping to clear those out in the near future.

Enjoy the pics, and hope to see some folks post some pics of some other Famicom clones, such as the legendary Dendy, etc.

Tell me if you DO NOT want me to save the pics of you clone collections, because I might. I'm doing a research project for the forums, so if you don't want me to add your pics to my research, just PM me. Cool Famiclone collection, BTW.
Thanks,

i'm not sure i understand your question,
a keyboard clone without the keypad?
that wouldn't be a keyboard clone then i think.
or do you mean a clone with a seperate keyboard?
like this:

This is Japanese clone (too bad it don't work and it never worked, i was stupid and connected it on PAL adapter!!)

SMD2 clone, had some built in games, but now it's not working, with original sega controllers, i was dumb when bought them on ebay, though they will work on the clone...)

Terminator 2 clone, maybe my favorite console (it has modified adapter which is unable to unplug, but also it's not working)

That's PS type clone , with built in games, it's like polystation, i bought it 2009. on the fair in the town next to mine

Micro genius console, it's good console, but nothing special and beside is PS one console...
Title: Clear and Blue Famiclone Keyboard
Post by: bonusbmusic on June 16, 2014, 06:08:28 pm
Here is something I got a while back, I do not know much about it except...

It has no company name or model number on it that I can find. The plastic is soft and has a gel like feel to it but the keys are hard and feel of good quality and are sensitive. Looking inside there is a part of the outer case that looks cut out by hand with a knife, some of its insides are held together with hot glue, and after its used it smells like Action 52. I last used it 4 weeks ago and it still smells like burnt plastic but works fine. Theres a small red light on the top that indicates the power is on. It was supposedly found at a Goodwill in Maryland

the Jackie Chan cart has some english educational games,
musical shooters (press the letter you see on the balloon to pop it), and some pixeldrawing-programme
where you can make images with different tiles.
it's been a while since i played it so i don't really remember anything special about it.

Post Merge: June 19, 2014, 03:19:35 pm

my very first clone was a polystation lookalike,
similar to your "super video game" console.
it had tons of games built in,
and i had fun with those for years,
i didn't have any extra carts,
but the games on it were pretty good.
the power rangers games that were on it were awesome ;)
it took more than 10 years before i got another clone,
with some multicarts,
but that first one kicked arse.
ith was called "game station" i believe.

it's pretty good depending on your tv,
i have a CRT with AV input on the side and SCART in the back,
video and audio are significantly better through the SCART than the AV on the side.

unfortunately i don't have the gear for good shots,
all i have at my disposal is my phone and the ol' CRT i use for gaming.
at the risk of coming across as terribly outdated and ill-equipped, i will post some pics of what my AV modded Famicom looks like, and what the BBK looks like on my TV (in roughly the same area of the game).
i hope they are clear enough.
first two pics is the AV modded Famicom,
3d and 4th are the BBK.
i'd say the colours are a tiny bit darker on the Famicom,
and have a bit more warmth/depth,
although i quite like the crisp bright video of the BBK,
which surprisingly has less jagged edges on textures and edges.
both have very faint jailbars, that don't even show on the pics,
and i think they are caused mostly by the cables i use.

I've mentioned before how much I like the "Tabletop Famicom", despite the inverted buttons.  But of all the Famiclone consoles I've come across, this one is my absolute favorite.  It looks VERY nice when hooked to a TV *and* the built-in screen is fantastic.  Games with tiny projectiles (Star Force, for example) can be a bit more challenging on the screen, but the games still look wonderful.

i have a couple of those if you need one.

Post Merge: December 05, 2014, 09:42:20 am

some nice keyboards i got in last week,

-a mysterious pc with built-in screen, famicom slot and disk drive.
has av and rf out, but haven't got those working yet.
disk drive needs some work too,
but famicom part works flawlessly.
works as a tv too with the antenna.
has a parallel printerport in the back.

-the Bit79 Home Computer System.
very nice quality console.
complete with carry handle,
data line in and out (load and save) for cassette data recorder.
very good quality keyboard,
and a printerport and a mysterious expansion slot under the right side lid.

-The Subor SB-486, not much to say about this one,
standard heavy duty old model keyboard clone with printer port.

-Gaoke keyboard clone.
not as heavy and sturdy as the Subor or other older clones,
no printer port, and not working (yet).

Is that a Gotek USB floppy emulator on the side?  Looks very similar to the ones I used to mod for Commodore Amigas to replace the internal floppy drive.  Can you play ROMs from it?

It is  ;D .Those floppy emulators are awesome!.

From what I have gathered, this unit can load roms from floppy, and there is supposed to be some sort of sotware and tool for it but unfortunately I don't have it  :'(
