Title: bandai hyper shot compatibility
Post by: prince tomato on April 24, 2014, 01:22:36 pm
hi everyone,
i'm trying to find out if the Hyper Shot gun from Bandai works with other lightgun titles,
and if the game that goes with it (Space Shadow) works with a regular Zapper/Famicom Beam Gun.
i'm also curious to try the gun on some of my clone systems with DB15 controller connections,
and to try the game on some clone systems with the standard lightguns they came with.
but before i shell out the $$$ for the Hyper Shot i would like to know more about compatibility of both the gun and the game.
anyone had any experience with either of these?

I have a spare copy of Space Shadow and can confirm it's not playable with the regular light-gun as far as I can tell.  The Hyper shot had a d-pad on, so I can't move :(

I had heard you could move with a 2P controller, but that didn't work for me.  Tested on an AV Famicom.

yeah,
i found a loose copy of Space Shadow an finally got around
to testing yesterday.
everything worked, except, like you said, after the first alien is gone i'm stuck because of the missing D-pad.
next i will try it with a powerjoy controller with built in gun.
i'll get back on this as soon as i have some results ;)

so, i tried playing Space Shadow on a Subor D29 clone,
this time using a Power Joy controller,
which has a lightgun and D-pad,
but it didn't work.
i couldn't move with the D-pad.
in the meantime i found a complete Hyper Shot
set, so the next thing to try is hooking that bad boy up to
another Subor clone with DB15 controller connectors,
and see if that works.
