What's your personal favorite NES zapper game? Mine is Gumshoe :)
Gumshoe! Yes I agree, my favorite as well! :D
Duck Hunt -- because that's the only one I've played. :( I just might have to track down Gumshoe.
Oddly I find Gumshoe to be my favorite also; maybe because it carries many platform aspects.
I should give Gumshoe a try sometime.
Out of the few I've played, I have to give the nod to Barker Bill's Trick Shooting.
I go for Gumshoe too, but Wild Gunman roolz too much man.
Gumshoe has to be one of the most underrated games of all time...

Same answer for me. :P
Duck Hunt's quite fun to play.
Yeah, Duck Hunt's fun to play, but only once in a while. Everytime I get to like, level 30 in Duck Hunt, I just tend to get tired of it and stop playing it for a while.
Gumshoe is neat and has awesome music, but my hand gets tired way too quickly.
I prefer Hogan's Alley. Did that have the mode where you shoot cans and stuff and try to get them to land on some brick ledges on the left side of the screen? That was a fun mini-game.

Yeah that's a fun mini game :) But back in the days I would've never bought Hogan's Alley for 50$. It gets boring as you go on, just like Duck Hunt.
Bayou Billy uses the Zapper too right?
Bayou Billy, Lone Ranger, & Track & Field II were some Konami games that used the Lightgun but weren't exclusively for it. Are there any others?
Baby Boomer by Color Dreams also used it.
From what I've heard and seen, most NES games either use the Zapper or don't, and some let you use either. Are there any games that make use of the Zapper only a part of the time, say, for a level or a boss battle, etc.?

From what I know, I don't think any NES game has that.

There are definitely some. Bayou Billy, for example. would let you use the Zapper on some stages (the game had beat-em-up, shooter, and driving stages). Track & Field II also let you use the Zapper for part of the game (as previously noted).
There are also some games that use both the Zapper and the controller. Gotcha! uses the controller to scroll left and right across the board (basically, it's scroll left, get flag, scroll back to the right -- all while shooting the other team's guys).
Laser Invasion uses the controller and the Zapper. Technically, it was meant to use a headset peripheral where you aimed with some eyepiece and yelled "fire!" into the mic to shoot. I think it's a jet "simulator" (like After Burner) where you steer and control your machine gun with the controller, and target and fire your missiles with the headset (been a while since I've played it, though).

Lone Ranger :)
Never played that game. Is it good or should I avoid it? :)
It's by Konami. It has a map screen much like that of RPGs & has three modes of play including a top down view, sidescrolling, a first person shooting maze, & a first person horse-riding mode... wait.... :(
& I think it's release is 1991.
Must be good...im going to try and find it somewhere...
My favorite Zapper game is the B game in Hogan's Alley where you have to constantly keep the bottle up till it lands in a points zone. It's a great test of accurcary, espically if you get with your buddies and want a good drinking game!
My least favorite Zapper game is To the Earth. Oh man. That game would be cool if the zapper was rapid fire, or at least didn't have so much resistance after each pull of the trigger. You can't shoot fast enough without your finger hurting real bad!
Someone either needs to import that FC machine gun or make a mod. :P

Yeah! Our guns look so cheap compared to the one in japan! :(
I'm sure it'll make that Hogan's Alley trick shooting game a piece of cake! :D
Yeah and Duck Hunt too! :D

Yeah it's not that bad, but it just gets boring as you play. :-\
