Title: Captain Tsubasa II Re-translation help
Post by: Farid on May 21, 2014, 12:06:31 pm
Hi, guys

I want to translate this great game to my native language Persian (Farsi)

For now my best choice is to translate the English version but it seems it is not so accurate translation which annoys me a little :

I want to know if there is anyone who likes to help me to make a full English re-translation of the storyline?

I can provide the slides like this :

Then the translator will make them English subtitle with something like paint

Thanks  :-[

Doesn't look like the translation is that bad. It's just that they leaved out some details probably due to lack of space in the ROM or on the screen.

I'm not really sure about that first line. Did he make friends with the soccer ball or what? The sentence isn't finished. The rest would be: "Young boy Oozora Tsubasa dreams that one day Japan would win the world cup."

I don't have the time to do any translation projects right now though.

I want a native speaker of Japanese as a translator!  :-[

Apparently the first line is introducing Tsubasa :
The lover of soccer ball ....
or
The friend of soccer ball ....

I see, so I was right then.
"Young boy Oozora Tsubasa, becoming friends with his soccer ball, he dreams that one day Japan would win the world cup."

Good luck finding a native speaker. Maybe you could find one if you visited a Japanese forum.

FARID, direct translation to english might looks not that good and need comments for the phrase keywords.

I am glad to see you here!  :D

Unfortunately the english translation is sometimes wrong. like this :

So I can't rely on that English version at all!

Do you have time to translate the storyline?

I am not in a hurry, so I will post a picture and whenever you have free time translate it and post it here again.

By the way I just need help for translating the storyline (dialogs)

I could translate the simple text :

Not right now. Middle of June most likely, when rainy season start.

This is awesome thanks!

I will prepare all the screenshots until then

Out of curiosity, is there a reason you gather screenshots rather than doing a script dump?  Since you have the skills to replace the text, I'm assuming you'd know how to dump it.

Of course I know how to dump the text directly :

But I want to make the translation as perfect as possible

The translator must see the situation and body language :

So that the result will be better!

Yeah it can be really hard to translate out of context so that's good, but having a dumped script as well makes it easier to work with sometimes. I didn't knew 80sFREAK was native Japanese, then again I'm usually wrong when I assume what nationality people here have. lol

What is your nationality?
Does your wife have time to translate these pictures?
Should I extract the text as well?
Thanks
