Hi,
First time poster short time follower. :)
I have had my twin famicom AN500-R for a month now and I cannot really complain as it works fine. Only trouble is the vertical line problem which I assume are the so called jailbars. I have read about the av-mod and ppu shielding for the famicom but wanted some advice by a kind sole regarding what the best fix is, if possible. I have pulled the thing apart and the ppu has an aluminium heatsink covering it. I was thinking of shielding the ppu with aluminium tape and grounding this. Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
I don't know of any fix, but if you install the RGB-kit it will fix the problem....
Although frankly I don't think the vertical lines are very noticeable on twin famicom. Try tweaking with the light on the TV a bit.
Maybe your console has severe case? If that is the case, sometimes the caps are getting old.
Thanks for your help. All the caps look fine. Maybe they aren't good on the inside. Who knows :bomb:
Will go with an AV famicom instead :pow:
To be fair you can get a crispy clear picture from 30 years old technology, but not usually straight outta the box.
I'm not into crispy clear for Famiom, but I hate jailbars.
I do however like RGB on the Mega Drive, that was very easy to achieve as it just needed an RGB cable, nothing more, and the result is very nice.
My Twin also has jail bars, but tbh it is not really that noticeable unless I look for them.
Well at the end of the day it isn't the end of the world. The games work and I can play them and they aren't terrible. :bub:
Hi again. So far I have made no progress with reducing the jailbars on this system. I lifted pin 21 and used the av mod circuit to output signal directly. Maybe a slight improvement but nothing major. Is there anything else I should try before I buy another one? Any advice or help much appreciated.
I tried capacitor from pin 22 to 20, 220uF 16v. I will try pin 1 also. Where is the third place to decouple from? Also I'll try the copper tape. Maybe that'll sort this out. Thanks a lot for your help. :)

The twin fami is dead :-[. I must have shorted it out when i tried to get some more copper tape around the ppu. Nevermind I have had success with an original fc and i some more on the way to keep me busy. Thanks for your help.
