so i have a few questions about the modified Mitsumi's QuickDisks that where used in all official FDS games... or so i think :P alright so the questions:
1. any reproductions of it in japan or of any QuickDisks anywhere?
2. what exactly about it was modified, (was the only change the format to the spiral thing?)
3. if it was only the format changed of how the disk writers wrote to the disks then could it be possible to get a QuickDisk completely wipe it then re-magnetize and "reformat" it to the spiral data format thingamajig? (sorry if i sound like the the person who walks into computer store and asks "does this computer have the internet on it?") :-[
4. if so or even if not is there any practical way to get new QuickDisks?
5. if there isnt a practical way to get new QuickDisks and there are no repros of any QuickDisks then is the only way to put new discs in your FDS games by buying the cheap games nobody wants brand new?
6. do you think somebody will start repros of it in the future!? ( :fire: that fire is my dwindle of hope :pacman:....)
im asking these questions because i feel like it would save so many games and make them easier to get/ fix if all you ever had to do was plop in a new disk into the case and rewrite the game and when trying to buy games all youd need to do is buy a game for what the case looks like i dont know i think itd be good all around :D

1. Besides Te4Two unlicensed companies have made various variants that's compatible with FDS. I don't know if anyone is making them now though.
2. As far as I understand it, it's only the shell that's longer on Nintendo disks. http://famicomworld.com/workshop/tech/maxell-quick-disk/ I think I heard of people rewriting FDS games on computers that uses quick disk drives.
3. I don't think you need to reformat it.
4. QuickDisks for Roland synthesisers are rarer and highly sought after among enthusiasts, so FDS disks are probably easier to find.
5. Seems like it. If you can get FDS loader disk emulator to work you can run disk images from a computer and play them on your RAM adapter just like real disks. It's super timing sensitive though and most computers won't work.
6. I doubt it, but you never know.
ok thanks i think that summed up my options! so bout $10 per new disk from Tea4Two not including shipping from them to guy in japan to me or i can go buy new games for as low as $5 :)
and im almost certain my computer wont work with FDS loader
(im trying to do this so i can replace the disks in my games that are really scratched and dirty)
i bought like 7 boxes of quick disks from ebay a while back for ridiculously cheap. I forgot how much i paid exactly... I have no idea how to use them on a fds.

You have to clip the small tabs off the sides of the disk and put an extension on the back of the disk so it seats properly in the FDS. Have a look at the pics (http://www.famicomdisksystem.com/disks/).

Yeah i've seen those pics a while back. i just have no idea how to find an extension like that, and i have no idea where to find a piece of metal (paperclip?) that looks like that
I don't know if a regular paperclip would be long enough, but you could probably bend an ideal clamp / butterfly paperclip (http://content.oppictures.com/Master_Images/Master_Variants/Variant_500/9070.JPG) into the shape you need. I don't know if that's what they used to use, though.
regular paperclips are long enough but the cylindrical shape allows for too much slipping if i use tape or something to hold it in.
