Title: Weird Question... Also, Hi
Post by: BaconBitsKing on July 14, 2014, 05:56:39 pm
I'm new here, just to get that out of the way. There's a few things I want to talk about.

I am by no means a Famicom gamer, nor do I even own Famicom games yet. However, I do have a Famiclone and plan to buy some Famicom games sometime.  :-\

I have a few questions, the first of which is really strange. Does anyone know what Famicom gamers were like in Japan during the '80s?

Also, how expensive is a Famicom these days? Also, Disk System?

:redcart:

Also, sorry for not making a different post for my introduction.

I don't think anybody has a real answer to the first question as I'm pretty sure none of us were actually in Japan in the 80s.

They were Japanese, either male or female. Probably in the age range of 5-70, or something like that.

I'm not sure what kind of an answer you're looking for.

good priced famicoms are the ones covered in dirt and grime and say JUNK or untested. they tend to go for less than $30 usd and some come with bundled games. they are easy to clean. that would be your best bet.

Welcome to Famicom World! I think a lot of members here have Famiclones.

Depending on where you live you might need to have a Famicom with AV output (instead of just RF). The easiest way to get that is to get either a Twin Famicom or AV Famicom, but they are more expensive. There's a thread here about the pros and cons of each model.

Famicom Disk System goes for around 30$ I think. Make sure to get one that had it's belt changed as it's 99% chance it's broken otherwise.

It must have been so damn awesome to have been a kid in Japan in the 80's during the Nintendo explosion.  Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong country.

Trust me, it was pretty cool to be a kid in the 90s on the tail end of that over here in England too :)
