Title: Need help making a monster party reproduction
Post by: famiac on August 22, 2014, 12:01:34 pm
Hey guys, i have a question.

Normally the PRG rom on an SKROM board is only 28 pins, but i have two 32 pin 27c010 ICs for this job. There are 32 holes for the IC on board, but i doubt it's just a drop in replacement.

Both prg and chr are 128KB though. Does anybody have any idea what i need to do (what legs to lift and jumper) in order to make a playable reproduction?

Thanks. This is my donor cart: http://bootgod.dyndns.org:7777/profile.php?id=2186

According to a NintendoAge thread about making an SKROM repro cart, the wiring methods for TKROM and SKROM are the same. If that's the case, following the instructions below ought to work for you.
NA thread here: http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=22&threadid=67310

TKROM & TSROM (mapper 4):
PRG socket:
Bend up pins 1, 2, 24, 30 and 31 (or cut tracks 2, 24, 30 and 31)
Solder pin 2 to hole 24 (A16)
Solder pin 24 to GND (OE)
Solder pin 30 to hole 1 (A17)
Solder pin 31 to hole 2 (A18)
CHR socket:
Bend up pins 1, 2, 22, 24, 30, 31 (or cut tracks 2, 22, 24 and 30)
Solder pin 2 to hole 24 (A16)
Solder pin 22 to hole 31 (CE or CHR /A13)
Solder pin 24 to hole 2 (OE or CHR /RD)
Solder pin 30 to hole 1 (A17)

Let me know if you try this and it works! I need to make a Monster Party repro sometime too.

Great to hear it! I should get started on a label now, I wanted to illustrate something from scratch to make a cart for my brother for Christmas.

I have used cheap Willem. You should get a 9V power-supply also (it's not included). It's not ver 5 board so you have to download the software for 4.0 or 3.0 to get it burning.
