I've been hiding this information for awhile, hoping that someday yhj would stop being retarded and give me the chance to bid on one of these, but now I'll just reveal my findings
The twin famicom was released originally as model number AN-500. You guys are probably all familiar with these, theres one black one with a red stripe and one red one with a black stripe, buyers could choose between their favorite color.
Then, there was AN-505. AN-505 has a few revisions, most notably the official sharp turbo controllers, and the case redesign. You are probably familiar with this too, it is black with a green/gray stripe. What I found odd about the 505 is there is seemingly no other color to choose from, until a few months ago when kris showed me an auction of a
red with beige / gray stripe
AN
505!!!!!
It went for a couple of hundred bucks, and finally the mystery was solved. There was another color, but why is it almost never for sale? why is it rarer than the other color of an 505? why can't I get one? we may never know.
NOTE: I lost the link to the auction when I upgraded to vista. When kris gets back on gmail after settling in ill ask if he has it then ill embed the pic for you guys. For now, just trust me, its real
Cool info. I'd love to see the link/pic for comparison purposes. I can't quite imagine the differences.
Care to show pictures? ;)

I did, especially the bottom. I was hoping by the time you read my post the pictures would've been available. :(
I can't wait for pics!
I want to see the pics, but I see some Twin modded in the past as Famicom modded as well. (Like a Green-white Famicom).
yeah, this isnt modded, its a production model
Today I was looking at pics of Twin Famicoms on the net, and a question came to my head; do you actually need the RAM cartridge so you can play the disk system games on this, or is it all bulit in? If it is built in, does this mean that you can't put a famicom cartridge and famicom disk system game at the same time? Because which game will the console start playing if two games are in the console? ???
no ram cart needed and no you cant put both in at the same time theres a lock
I know somebody who is offering me a CIB Famicom Twin with about ten games.
Can somebody post pics of the Twin, and tell me a bit about it?
A couple questions:
Does it play Famicom games and Disk games?
Do all the accesories work with it?
Is it a knock off?
Plays both. Accessories work. It's made by Sharp.
to elaborate on your third question since JC didn't go into detail
it's an officially liscensed nintendo product, manufactured by sharp corporation of japan
it's 100% official.
back to the OP, im going to get the pic for you guys this week, I've been meaning to get it
here it is:
sorry it's hooked up to disk systems, but w/e
(http://www.max.hi-ho.ne.jp/hikaru/KG/image/twindisk02.jpg)
here is the one you are familiar with that is also reddish:
as you can see, the one I'm talking about is a 505 and the one you know about already is a 500
That doesn't look legit. You sure it is? I only say that because it's kinda ugly.
To me it looks like the usual plastic decoloring when exposed to prolonged sunlight.
lol no, look at the difference between them, the stripe is full across on the new one I showed you which is only on the 505, also the shape of it is significantly different from the bottom picture model 500. I have a black 505 by the way so I can see this in person.t, plus it has turbo buttons on the controllers which the one on the bottom pic doesn't. (though you can't see controllers in that pic)
you could claim the 500 and 505 look similar but if you know anything about the twin you will realize you are incorrect
EDIT: NOW HAS FIXED PIC SO YOU CAN COMPARE, WAS A BIT SKETCHY BEFORE, DIDNT WORK SOMETIMES.
yes JC it's 100% legit i've seen more than one at this point
So, is the 505 a redesign?
yeah, with turbo buttons on the controllers as the only major selling point
Man I really wanted to get a Sharp Twin Famicom soo much, other then ebay and yahoo Japan where can I get me one cheap?
Speaking of the Twin Fami, what is the pinout of the DIN AV cable?

Speaking of the Twin Fami, what is the pinout of the DIN AV cable?
Never mind, I looked at it and it's for an RF switch.
I would be so happy with getting a sharp twin famicom....maybe one day!
I have just bought myself a twin famicom, which should be arriving anyday now.
I know it has an av out on the back and have been trying to find out its pinout but
have so far been unsuccesful.
Does anybody know what the pinout is or if the rgb cable from another system
would be compatable?
.....
it's standard rca
get double sided composite rca
.....
Alright so I'm really thinking about getting a Twin Famicom. I do have a Famicom but it's a really crappy pirateds version (Motherboard is held down with to-glue). It still works but I have a craving for some FDS games and have no FDS. After looking around the websites I found various repair guides. My questions is what are the chances of having to do some refurbishing on one if I buy it from say www.japangamestock.com?
I don't mind having to refurbish it but I'm not a very handy guy. I probably wouldn't have the tools to repair something (that's right no soldering iron in my house) so I'm trying to avoid any repairs I can prevent. I have no problem replcing the belt though so if that's a common problem I won't mind.
So share your thought/experiences about what to expect from buying a Twin Famicom.
The hard part is finding a power cord that works with it, toysonlinehk probably has some, that's where I got mine from.
If you get one, I'm pretty sure it will need a new belt for the disk drive.
Hey does anyone know what the size the Twin Famicom is compared to the original?
It's more than twice as big.
Are there any famiclone disk systems? Don't think I've ever run across one....perhaps we could start up a business if 133mhz can figure out how to make them ;)
Good point. I never realized that I've never seen pirated FDS's. Must have been too tough to make, since there shouldn't be any doubt that the piraters would have built them to go along with their pirated disks. Would make a nice bundle.

If anyone can, it'd be him.
turbo twin or twin fami which do you prefer. +'s and -'s? even color combos.
Turbo Twin is much better
It's exactly the same hardware as a regular Twin, but with longer cords, turbo switches, and a better color scheme! (IMO)
I'd rather just have a Famicom and a FDS, unless you already have one...
It'd be nice to own all 3..
But if you had to choose one, I'd just get an original setup (Famicom and FDS)
yeah, I agree with nintendodork, the Turbo Twin is the obvious choice, but the original Nintendo variety is the best (in my opinion) ;)
Carl has 3 Twin Famicoms for sale now! 2 AN-505's (Black/Green) and 1 AN-500 (Red)
Both are great deals so pick whichever one you want (I recommend the Black/Green one)
Black/Green ones:

https://famicomshop.com/node/395
Red one:
https://famicomshop.com/node/340
I wouldn't say those are great deals. Rising Stuff has a AN-500B for $99, but it would probably even out with shipping from Japan.
Considering their shipping from Japan is $60-$70, I'd say it is about even on the AN-500's. Although mine have official AC Adaptors and include free games.
Their AN-505's are more expensive by $20-$30 after shipping.
nintendodork -- thanks for pointing out my shop!
jimhmphry -- let me know if you have any questions as well.
And longer wires, if I'm not mistaken. :-\
Who was that sentence aimed at? lol
