Title: BOUGHT NEW AV FAMICOM BUT NEED HELP WITH POWER ADAPTER

I just bought this famicom AV japan version from ebay

I reside in canada, but i am not sure if i could use the power adapter that comes with the console

what kind of power adapter do i need, can i use that japanse power adapter do i have to buy another kind.

can someone please help.

here is the adapter that comes with it,, will this work here in canada

If you have Genesis Model 1, use that power adapter.

I dont have the genesis model.. so this wont work??

can i buy a cheap third party adapter than? and if so, can u help me find one on ebay

You can get a Genesis model 1 AC adapter without getting a Genesis.

Just get a stepdown converter.. ALWAYS use original power suplies. That is what i have learned.  :D

The original adapter will work just fine, it will just generate a little more heat than a equivalent US adapter.

It'll be easier to use the Genesis 1 AC adapter (model number 1602). So that you won't need a stepdown converter.

I would rather say: Don't use low quality power supplies. Genesis model 1 adapter is known to be of good quality and Famicom and Genesis model 1 have the same specs (they use the same voltage regulator too) so it's perfect for Famicom and all other consoles that use those power specs and plug diameter.

It also has some extra amperage which is good when using things like flashcarts that drain more power than normal cartridges.
