Title: Official Famicom Release List?
Post by: compile_6502 on October 20, 2014, 01:43:47 pm
I know that Famicom World itself has a nice release list for Famicom & FDS.  Is there a more complete list?  I am only interested in official releases and exact release date & price.

What's considered the most complete and accurate source for this?  Obviously a website would be great, but I wouldn't mind a Japanese book / magazine either.

Wikipedia has a pretty complete list I thought.

I am not satisfied with any of the lists, personally.  I like some of the features of the FW list, but there are some mistakes, and some other parts are cryptic (i.e. concerning the Datach games).  But on the other hand, I was originally using the wikipedia list and was not entirely happy with it either.

With that note, I might try to take some of the information out there, the combined sources, and make some sort of pdf catalog (with pictures), which would be useful for anyone trying to collect all of the Famicom games; however, that is sure to be a long time in the making, but just a little something I would like to do for my own personal use, which if I ever finish it, would share with others.  We'll see.

That would be amazing, is there a way I could help?  translate the games into trad / simp. Chinese for example?

Wow, not sure how I missed the Wiki one.

How complete is the Famicom World list?

It's missing a few games and has a few erroneous entries.

If you want a complete and accurate list, track down a copy of the book Family Computer 1983-1994 (ファミリーコンピュータ 1983-1994).  It has the complete list of official cart and disk releases, along with release dates and prices.  You'd have to go through page by page in order to come up with a real "list", though.

And then there's the special edition games, which aren't listed there, which are official but kind of like special cases (like the gold Punchout! cart, etc).

Thanks UglyJoe.  I'll look for that book on eBay or when I visit Tokyo.

I already made a list for my own reference. You guys can view it here (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1N-Q4fTas-N7x40kcpeixUDn9EI7c6GyHAbKBG4II33w/edit?usp=sharing). It's not entirely polished, but it does display every game in exact order of release. The first column are the Japanese titles, the second column are the romanized titles, and the third column shows the English title if the game got a western release. FCD games are on a separate unfinished page, which you can go to by clicking the tab at the bottom.
