Interesting - is there a well known SNES GB emulator other than the SGB?

Except Super Gameboy isn't an emulator.

Interesting indeed.

How isn't it an emulator? It is taking software designed for one sytem, and running it on another.

SGB incorporates actual GB hardware I believe, but it's still an emulator of sorts in my eyes.

It has nothing to do with emulation at all.
Emulator - A software that runs software from system A on system B by replicating system A's hardware in software.

The SGB isn't replicating a Gameboy in software at all since it IS a Gameboy (without buttons, screen and speaker) like LET said. It just uses the SFC's audio/video output and controller input. So in short GB games are running on real hardware, not emulation.

Screen resolution is different from a GameBoy, but it isn't an emulator just because it uses another system's screen, is it? It also gives GB games the possibilities to use more of the SFC hardware like the soundchip S-SMP, but not many SGB games take advantage of this and this is beside the point.

The definition is different for computers - I was thinking of it in the traditional sense of something emulating something else - but I can see it's not emulation, it's imitation more I suppose, but either way it is different.  I wish there was a default green palette though so it looked like I was actually playing a traditional DMG Gameboy.

It uses the same CPU and soundchip and everything so I wouldn't even calling it imitation or clone. It's just a Gameboy in another form.

I think there is a defualt green? I always use it on my SGB 2.
