Title: Did I fry my Famicom?
Post by: Ventusic on December 14, 2014, 05:29:54 pm
Hey there. So about two weeks ago I got a Famicom with no cords (seems common on the internet...) and I found out you needed one with 100AV and 10V (I think..)
I checked a store in my area and they only had one that was 110AV and 9V.  I had no games so I figured it'd be pointless to try it.
That Friday I got curious and tried it on a CRT. The snow stuff (What is that called anyways?) seemed to change when I turned the power on and off, so it did something.
The next Saturday (yesterday actually) I got MOTHER for it. I didn't have the CRT so I tried all the flat-screens at our house. None had Ch. 95 or 96. I also tried channel 3 and 4 (I had an RF adapter and stuff so I'm good there) but to no avail.

Did I kill it? Or do I just need a CRT?  :'(
Also, ignore my other questions like the snow stuff. That's just me typing my thoughts.

Hi, its the output that's important, the original power supply for the famicom is 10V DC and 850mA output, (http://www.playimports.com/ebay/fdsmet/fdsac.jpg)

If you use RF crt is best.

The snow stuff is called static. ;D

The input is also important if you are in Europe and have a 220V adapter (will kill your Famicom).
Also polarity is important (must be center negative).

The snowy noise is called The War of the Ants™.
