Geez oh man I take one month off ebay and 4 copys of Ai Senshi Nicol Fds port carts go in the same month, one even for 25$. Unreal. I have to believe some of you guys on here had to snatch some of these up. I was thinking I needed to take a break from eBay cause I needed money for other things but this is crazy. I've been religiously checking ebay for years looking for certain things like these I take one month off and dam was it a costly one. Also a Fds port of metorid went for 10$

So here's a thought - given these can be hard to find, are there ROM dumps somewhere that one could make repros of or play on an EDN8? Obviously the EDN8 plays FDS etc. but this is different.
Krikzz really needs to fix FDS sound or hire someone to help him out. I'm getting tired of the wait. Yeah yeah I know that he works on many projects at once, but isn't there some elite programmer out there up for the task? I know one guy in the forum said he would look into it, but no word on it yet.
Thanks for the advice but I'm looking for the older carts like that exact one shown. I have the game for FDS but I also just enjoy collecting old FDS pirate ports.
I had seen those after the fact, just like you had. When I did some looking into it, it seemed as though it was the same guy that bought all the copies...probably gonna see them appear on ebay at a later date for higher prices, from some reseller.
How much would they normally go for then? Are there any dumps of them? Anywhere? Can someone please please PM me if thy don't want links appearing here? :help:
I have no idea about dumps (though I think some of these unofficial FDS ports have been dumped, just not sure about this particular game), but these carts easily go for $60 - $100, at least by my opinion (these are good games, and many people prefer carts over disks, understandably). I think I paid around $50 or $60 for my copy, but for someone living abroad it can be expected to pay a little more.

And if you're so much on that everdrive, why do you keep buying actual original releases as much as possible? Are you trying to limit the competition between collectors for uncommon games?

I just think Jay-ray was looking at it all from a collector's POV and L__E__T is looking at it from a gamer's POV. Nothing wrong with either. If anything the Everdrive should be a good compliment to a collection, but ultimately will never replace it. There's something about the look and feel of the carts that the N8 can't replicate. On the flipside, now if you have a desire to play FDS albeit not perfectly sounding then invest in an N8

To be fair though L__E__T you do recommend people to get the everdrive constantly. I've sometimes felt like you were discouraging people to buy original copys of games.
LET recommend people to get the Everdrive when someone are going out of their way to play certain hacks or similar when the Everdrive could do the same thing much easier and cheaper. I think most people on this forum agree with what Raverrevolution is saying that it can't replace a collection.
The Everdrive is a very neat thing that makes it very easy to execute arbitrary code on your Famicom, but people who are not interested in that feels like it gets too much attention I guess. BTW I would never use it for expansion sound games ugh.

I've never recommended getting the Overdrive as a replacement for Famicom carts - but it goes without saying that gamers on a budget that want to play on original hardware would consider it.
I would recommend it as it's a fantastic piece of kit and they are of course very popular. I would also recommend it over multicarts and pirate carts, nothing wrong with that.
I wouldn't recommend it for FDS games or for expansion chip games. While it will play Akumajou Densetsu better than a NES will play Castlevania 3, it's not as good as the Famicom cart.
I think the Everdrive is essential - but as a complimentary part of a collection. I'd hate to have that instead of or as a replacement of a collection.
I think the Everdrive is great. I got one for Christmas, but I got it for the sole purpose of playing prototypes / unreleased games, homebrew games, and rom hacks on hardware. I am currently working on my own rom hack, just basically fulfilling childhood fantasy there, and I use the Everdrive to play test it and tweak it. Eventually I hope to get a few custom carts of it, to give to my brother, myself, and a few friends. Everdrive is perfect for stuff like that.
For collecting, and normal playing purposes, I would much rather have carts. Singles > multis, and although licensed > boots (most of the time anyway), I think boots > roms of a normal game on an Everdrive.
It feels good being able to play the Mother 25th Anniversary Edition hack in English while I own the Japanese Mother which I can't read. In that sense I'm able to collect good popular games and be able to play through them without any physical change in cartridge.
On top of that I feel as though I go after the more expensive games now to collect as I'm not trying to fill out the collection as much with the cheapos since I'm able to play them all. It's a better focus and pay off at the end.
