Okay, here are the rules. You have up through the end of the weekend Taiwan time (it is currently 10:45 PM, Saturday night in Taiwan) to make a guess. One guess per person, on each of the two contests. Person that is closest receives a small goody package, I will send the parcels worldwide, free of charge, on March 11th.
Contest Number 1: How many (unique) games does fcgamer have in his Famicom CARTRIDGE collection? I consider unique games to be as follows:
-original games (licensed and unlicensed, as well as original pirates)
-hacks (so I will count my "Mario IV" hack as a unique game, even though it is just Armadillo with a tweaked sprite)
-games of the same title, which were released by a different publisher (so a game that was published by both Hacker and Sachen counts as two games, if I own both versions)
-etc
This is meant for fun, and although you may disagree on my definition of "unique" in this sense, basically what I mean is games that have something different about them to make them worth keeping in my collection. So a generic Bootleg Mario 3 and the licensed version don't both count, but if Mario is hacked to smoke a cigar or something cool like that, then it's game.
So that is it: How many unique carts do I have?
CONTEST NUMBER 2: How many carts + disks do I have, so basically grand total of games?
I will count both licensed and unlicensed disks, but most bootleg disks I will exclude from the total (the only one I will include is Mario Vania).
The reason I am having these contests is that I have been going through and inventorying my collection the past few days, and I am curious how many carts I actually have as well, since I only have a ballpark figure at the moment.

Okay here are the results:
Not counting some of the extra crap floating around my place (generic multi carts and the like), I have the following in my collection:
1350 carts
31 disks
which leads to a total of 1351 items in general. That's a hell of a lot of items, and with that said, I think I am going to try to spend the next few months researching and playing these old games, while placing my purchasing on hold. We'll see how long that lasts though ;)
It is a pain to inventory your collection / mess of games, and I've already discovered some which I had two or three copies of. Oh well, at least I know where I stand with my personal goals, and I am glad to be able to turn my organization into somewhat of a contest, for others to enjoy. It also just makes me want to see the collections of some others even more - I know there are a lot of guys on here with quite impressive collections, and also a few (quiet) western collectors with a lot of cool goodies. :)
With that said, here are the winners:

Yeah Jackson, I did find some doubles that I pulled out to sell, but some of the licensed doubles I found I just left in there, since I don't have my licensed stuff properly organized. Next time I get paid, I hope to get a few more storage containers and then properly organize my licensed Famicom games...I am just not sure the best way to organize, maybe by publisher? I am thinking of keeping my favorites with easy access, and then the rest by publisher to make for easy checking. At that point, I will be able to compare the doubles of my licensed stuff and see which is in the better condition and which I will sell / trade. Unlicensed stuff though, found some very cool extras, including a second Bignose the Caveman.
I also have some other carts I am not sure if I will sell or not...the hoarder in me wants to keep them, but the practical side says I should let them go. What to do?!?

To answer MaxXimus' question, yeah I actually do have a NES...it is PAL and made by Sachen though, so I don't think it really is what you have in mind. I have two toaster NES machines back in the States, but these days I much prefer Famicom for so many reasons.
