I'm looking for an pirate FDS port of kid Icarus. I've never seen one only heard rumors of them. If you have one and even if your not willing to sell at least post a pic of the cart for me.
I'm also looking for one, so I would like to +1 to the request for a picture, please, asking very politely if we can see what one looks like, to better hunt it down. Ryo / Poppy I'm looking at you! :D
I saw one here years ago, think it was a straight up port with save features but it looked expensive, have no idea if had any expansion audio.
Think StealthLurker has one.
I also want one of these, if anyone has one for sale (I think maybe I saw one on Oreanor's (SP?) collection page.
Anyway, here is a pic of one (not mine though):

I had this one, but sold it lately to a guy who needed it much more then me, because, to be completely honest, I don't really like this game, lol, yeah, but it's just me and a weird taste of mine

It tends to show up around here in PL once every like 5 years or so.
Are those carts just the nes version and not the fds port?
Yeah I'm specifically looking for an fds port not the nes version on a pirate cart.
Yup, mine was just a pirate. FDS port would be much more difficult to track and acquire, I believe.
The one I saw listed above was FDS port, not the NES version.
Just so it's known I'll pay top dollar for one of these carts.

I think all of us would ;)
The one I saw was sold for maybe $100+ I wanted to buy it but didn't have the money.
What exactly does the FDS port have in it to separate it from the NES version?
- JP title / logo screen
- no in-game graphics censoring
- different ending(s)
- SRAM saving
- borked FDS audio
I know some of the FDS differences, but specifically interested in what differences are supposedly carried over into a cartridge port of that.
Yeah I am interested to know why the cart is worth so much.

Kid Icarus was only released officially on the Famicom Disk System. FDS --> cart ports are always valuable, since they are not so common to find (and most people would agree that carts as a media is better than disks)
Yeah I own the fds version. The cart looks like rubbish to me.
This isn't just about a cart - it's about having the extra parts of the FDS version on a cart.
In other words, the original purest vision of the game, on the original purest for of media (at least in Famicom terms).
I'd love to see more of the FDS cart version if/when possible.

Hehe MWK- I remember like today :) You sold me the game :)
Does that one have a Japanese title screen? Label suggests it would be the NES version, but it'd be great to know!
Of course - there is an official GBA cart conversion of the FDS game out there i forgot about - I used to play it a lot some years back but couldn't read the Japanese on the saving screen and deleted my save :(

I think earlier in the post it had been said that this one is just the NES version.

Dang, I saw the new post by you and was hoping you found one :)
Bump willing to pay top dollar or trade any rare cart you're looking for.
Based on the ROMs in GoodNES, most FDS conversions were of games that were single-sided or didn't really use the saving features of the disk system. What games that did and were pirated to cartridge form lost those save features. Doki Doki Panic, Bubble Bobble and Super Mario Bros 2 are examples. Any game that used the FDS sound channel like Doki Doki Panic, Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa and Meikyuu Jiin Dababa lost that sound with no attempt to replace it with the regular Famicom channels. I would imagine Palutena no Kagami, if it really was ported to a pirate cart, would have suffered the same treatment. Without saving features, which increase the cost of cartridges considerably, it wouldn't have made much sense to convert it.
Bump. This is not my cart just reference pics from a friend. Still looking.
Bump
Still nice to look at the cart, hope you can find one soon ;)

Then why not get Kid Icarus on FDS? Can't get more pure and original than that.
"Original/purist" and "famicom bootleg" seems like an oxymoron to me.
Carts > Disks, especially when we are talking about Famicom. ;)

The disk has cooler sound.

I would agree with you on this; I would still take poorer sound with higher reliability any day though. Some disks have trouble running from system to system.

It is nonsensical of course - but it's still that hunt for wanting the game on cart.
Bit like how some people want a modern download game on disc just because.
Besides its not like cart OR FDS disk or NES, having the cart is a bonus extra and part of the allure is that it was never released on Famicom cart. Yes it's all pretend, but fun nonetheless.
Bump
You might as well find an FDS RAM adapter and get one of these if you're that hard up for a reliable or "cartrdidge" version of the game. http://3dscapture.com/fdsstick/
Let's make this post crystal fucking clear I'm a collector of vintage famicom disk system games ported to pirate carts. i'm attracted to the rarity and the effort that was put into by Pirates to make these cartridges. I'm fully aware that it's release on the disk system features better audio and is a better version I actually own the original version for my famicom disk system.
Nice, well said :)

Easy on the language Jay. Good luck finding one, I'm sure one will turn up sooner or later.

You are just taking unlicensed games and counterfeiting them...Huang Di, the Camerica games, etc. None of those are bootlegs in any way, shape, or form, same with Pyramid 2, Silent Assault, etc.
You're also one of the biggest hypocrites on this board, imo.
Yeah calling original unlicensed titles as bootlegs doesn't sound right.
