Title: Famicom Sound Issues
Post by: NickH93 on July 27, 2015, 07:09:33 am
Hey everyone,

Lost my Famicom in a fire, so I bought a new one.

When I plugged it in to RF with channel 95, I got perfect video and no sound. When I popped in Dr. Mario the only sound I got seemed to be whatever percussion sounds the music used. Almost like only one sound channel was working.

Anyone ever encounter something like this, where some games only have one channel of sound or no sound at all? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Dr Mario uses both the Noise channel and drum samples via the DMC channel for its percussion instruments.

You could test your sound with an FM Radio (http://famicomworld.com/workshop/articles/famicom-fm/) to see if you hear anything more.

open console and you will find on the RF modulator a little hole it is for adjustment the audio frequency, try to rotate it slowly with tinny screwdriver so you will get sound without buzzing

Tried doing that, but it messes up with the frequency (worked 95.75MHz before without sound, now it varies each time I adjust the audio frequency). Which way do I rotate? Clockwise or anti clock wise? At the start I rotated it clockwise, but nothing happened, tried on Channel 2, still nothing. Help?
