Title: AV Famicom with NES RGB mod suddenly stopped working?!
Post by: Mr. Onslaught on December 16, 2015, 10:39:16 am
My system was working as normal, changed the cart, now it boots into black wavy lines (and the RGB message changes to no sync after a few seconds).

It seems like it has to be internal damage since nothing was physically changed, is this kind of scramble familiar looking enough that I might be able to narrow the issue down? Pretty bummed, no clue where to start! Grateful for any guidance  :'(

We would need to see the internals.

I'll be taking it apart soon, will post back with pics of the inside. Really hoping the NESRGB board got randomly unseated and just needs to be reinserted!

Do you get any sound?

I've read a couple of accounts of the adapter board having low clearance to the CPU and shorting pins out.  The result of that seems to normally be a completely dead CPU with just a black screen though, but it could be a similar issue I guess.

No sound other than occasional hiss

When I get it open will a Mulitmeter easily tell if the computer is dead? Thanks.
