Title: Scrambled picture on Famicom
Post by: Gippy44 on January 30, 2017, 01:52:39 pm
I've just completed an AV mod spotlight j my Famicom but I only get a very jumbled picture. I've done two different mods and they both got the same result. I did try testing it on RF but I got something similar (my TVs are PAL so I didn't think much of it at the time).

Here's some photos of my board https://imgur.com/a/stnT6
I'm pretty confident there's no shorts and everything is where it should be.

Thanks.

that kind of picture damage can't be brought by AV mod itself.

hate to say this, but it looks like something is wrong with PPU or near related circuitry.

did your famicom produce proper picture before AV modding?

I figured that would be the case. I think it did the same thing when I tried testing it on RF but because I'm in Australia and using PAL TVs I just passed it off as that.

that means the famicom might have been damaged earlier.

i've just found another thread with the same issue http://www.famicomworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=13029.0 and the guy finally fixed it.
