Those old pirate carts could sure take a beating. The new one has just the absolute bare minimum board needed to function, but I bet you would probably snap the tabs holding the PCB in place off the second or third time you inserted and removed the cartridge.
Oh mein Gott! Dave! Why did you do that... I mean... I got your point, but I just can't watch that poor Top Gun being hammered :'(
I was thinking the same, I was thinking "we get it, stop!"
Makes you wonder what they make these modern cart shells out of though - it's like it's toffee brittle or something.
@MWK and L__E__T:
Since you (and so many folks over at Nintendo Age) are so concerned about these Top Gun carts, please feel free to adopt one :D

Haha, I think maybe you overdid it but they're your carts if you choose to maltreat the poor old fellas.
The gold here is that elusive Nintendo Age thread - would love to see what people think there - link?
All I found was this: http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=6&threadid=176728
but why would you ever take a hammer to a Famicom cartridge, bootleg or not? :question:
Please try that with a Spartan X (Kung Fu label variant), I want to know how tough it is :D

I have about seven of the Kung Fu versions, you want me to do it to that or to the Spartan X variant (I only have one Spartan X,..so it would make sense to do it to the more common Kung Fu version, right?!?)
