Title: question about internals
Post by: tobasoft on October 10, 2017, 07:23:51 am
okay, so I'm new to all this so please be gentle.

so I was given a sharp twin (red) a few months ago. the catch is it was busted. I managed to repair the fami side (replaced caps), but I'm fairly certain I fried the disk system board (inside the drive). I was wondering if I bought a broken (busted belt or whatever) regular disk system drive off ebay, could I repurpose the board and use it as a replacement for the sharp disk system side board?

The disk drive in the Twin Famicom is the same as the one in the Disk System, with the same connector. It might be easier to just swap the whole thing, since I'm not sure how much the drive board might differ on different versions of the disk drive.

Yes, a member here did that same thing some time ago, but I cannot seem to find the old thread. Anyways it is possible.
