For those of you who don't want to watch a video and just get to the point instead, I bought GIMMICK. At a Mandarake in Sapporo,
it was 19000 Yen, 20520 after tax, a little less than 200 US Dollars, but still lower than what I usually see it for, which is 30-35000.
The lower price was due to "big damage" but that's according to the picky Mandarake, there weren't really any damage to speak of,
keeping in mind that I'm just a gamer, I'm not looking for mint condition or to apply for that VGA bullshit.
Even though there are still games out there I want to buy, now it pretty much feels like I'm done, what's gonna top this?
Nice. It's a good game but I prefer Pipe V due to many continues ahaha. Of course not the same with original Sunsoft but yeah, congratulations for a nice find. :-[
Mandrake in Sapporo usually has very nice prices. I bought more than 20 Sega Mark III games there I think two years ago because they just arrived and was not tested so I just asked how much they would take for all and it became around 500 yen for each game haha. I kept the ones I wanted and sold the rest on YAJ.
Oh congratulations! I should check out Mandarake in Sapporo (though I don't have most of my game systems with me to Japan). You were lucky! Isn't that "BIG DAMAGE" just normal ageing of the label that proves it's genuine?
Translating the manual and reading the story behind the making made me really want to play this game. Gotta get it sometime, even if it's just a repro (with a proper sound chip).
Darn, nice score! I would probably buy every copy I found at that price.
That is a good price for that, nice get!
I've noticed that at Mandarake too (never been to the Sapporro one but have bought from the ones in Fukuoka, Nagoya and Osaka before). They put those "big damage" labels on carts and boxes with reduced prices even though sometimes the damage is so minor it is barely noticeable. I've gotten some good deals that way in the past!
Just awesome Protoman, I would have done the same in your place! Congrats! Give us some photo to share the love ;D

I got this case for some protection of this gem
Nice cameo of the Hudson Towel ^^ I also have it, and the Shooting Watch from same re-release. That shooting watch really was a nice "Gimmick!" ;)

Mine is not. Awesome stuff! ^^
I have a signed Takahashi Meijin joystick, maybe you could ask your friend for more info on it?
May I steal your topic?
I did it!! I bought that console!! 8)
EDIT: a surprise inside, not a H revision of cpu/ppu, but G. Oh well, I bought the earlier revision HVCN-CPU-01. The "02" has H. Cheers MaarioS! ;)
Is the H much better than the G? Or you were just after a G specifically?
I wasn't after any of them specially, I was just recently informed by MaarioS that the AV Famicoms have usually the latest revision, H, that should have the best video output.
Presumably.
Haven't looked into that in detail, I also have a standard Famicom (GPM-02) with G revision chips.
The difference between revisons can be in anything, from being able to display more advanced graphics to a better hadware chip layout which can lead to more clear video output.
For my needs (and 99% of users too) the only reason to have anything newer than the earliest revisions, is that the earliest revisions had problems displaying a few games (http://offgao.blog112.fc2.com/blog-entry-24.html) or a few sounds (https://www.famicomworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=13805.0).
Some details about differences (revisions G and H are listed as "no known differences"):

I was just hunting for a AV Famicom for a long time for a reasonable price, and this one cost me 50€ incl shipping at eBay. So VERY happy ;D
...and the Hello Kitty is just hilarious :) :) :)
Congratulations! I guess if you are getting a AV Famicom you might as well get a later, hopefully improved, one.
My only problems with the AV Famicom is the total lack of microphone circuitry.
Yeah only the OAM data readability, looped noise and the early broken Famicoms are really of concerns to users. The OAM bugs are only concern for the programmer.
