Title: Tracking the Codemasters Famicom Games
Post by: fcgamer on April 01, 2018, 08:34:03 am
I am posting this here, primarily hoping that some of the Polish collectors can chime in, with their input.  ;)  I am trying to completely document this for my book, right now I am working on these games.

Those who collect Codemasters-developed Famicom games know that they were published by one of three companies, BIC, Realtec, or Tiger.  BIC and Realtec are essentially the same, sort of like splitting hairs, haven't looked closely enough at Tiger yet.

Anyway, here are some large generalizations I've seen thus far:

1.  Original runs used Camerica boxes, most likely were published by BIC themselves.

2.  Reprints of these were done by Realtec, using clamshell cases.

3.  Games that were never released in single cart format on NES by Camerica were published as single carts by Realtec, receiving also cardboard boxes instead of clamshells.

Time to look at the games.  I've taken some pictures from my own collection, and also borrowed some pictures from another informative website (http://geocities.ws/pocketplane/KcyYfeBc8xk.html#Realtec) , I hope we can document these carts fully.

Because some Realtec-published carts were BIC cart, Realtec box, and likewise some BIC-published shells were BIC cart, Camerica box, if the BIC game has only been seen cart only, it is impossible to assess whether it was published by BIC or Realtec...  hence the lacking of information in some points.

Please post some pics, let's get this information complete.  :)

I'm not sure 37 has anything to do with BIC. The cartridge shell is indeed similar but it's like all those late polish cartridges, with a distributor copying the BIC design.

I've a photo of the BIC Quattro Sports.

Thanks mate, may I add the Quattro Sports pic into the original thread for continuity?

Like you, I agree and also feel 37, the Super Robin Hood, is not neccessarily a BIC/Codemasters - endorsed cart.  I just added it for completion sake since I had it lying around, but I guess I should have been more specific when posting it.

Either way, I'm happy to hear your response, MasterDisk.  :)  Thank you

US same as Videomation has at least two label artwork designed for different publishers. This one released for the South America market by Super Charger (all copies that I've seen were on mercadolivre). Instead of the standard text on the back, it has an ugly sticker with logo of mentioned company.

I have that Videomation, even with an invoice included.  I can probably try to take some pictures sometime.
