So, what is your oldest surviving console. It must be yours from the beginning. Mine is the original DS (images attached) and it has survived hundreds of car trips, holidays and even a swim in the bath. She is a battered old girl but she still holds a charge and is my daily driver for DS games. I have had her since launch and she has never needed to be repaired only cleaned.
A lot of my consoles got ruined in a flood sadly.
I do have my friend's NES though that's I grew up with, does that count??
If not the oldest surfing console I have since new is the original GBA. Arctic White.
I looked after it pristinely and I couldn't bear to let it go. Couldn't even bring myself to mod it.

I think the console I've had for the longest is the Sega Master System. Technically it was a gift to my father, but he rarely played it and I took it with me when I moved out ;D
My parents threw away my NES at some point (my dad was purging a bunch of kids stuff from the house -- a sentiment I totally understand now that I have a house full of kids stuff). It had pretty much stopped working by then, though (probably a bad pin connector).
Oldest handheld is probably my Game Gear. I still have it, but I'm not sure it still works (I remember taking it apart at one point).
Oldest Nintendo console is either my Game Boy Pocket or my NES top loader, I really don't recall which I had first. Was probably the top-loader, given the release dates.
I sold almost all of the original consoles I used in my childhood... N64, Gamecube, Wii, GBA. The only one that I still own is my original DS from 2004.
I have replaced my Gamecube with a Japanese one, sold my NES and converted to Famicom, and also had Japanese N64s from time to time. Converting to Japanese is not only cheaper, but more fun to collect for... obviously :)
My first Nintendo console, the N64, was still pretty mint. Even the control sticks were nice and tight. Me and my brother took good care of all our Nintendo stuff. Our handhelds did get a few little scratches on top though. :P
I still have my childhood Atari 2600. To be honest though it's the second one we owned, bought to replace the original one my mother broke out of parental frustration. Still working after all these years.
Well considering that I lost most of my game collection a few years back, suffered a burst water pipe that I was somehow blamed for even though I had nothing to do with it...
All of my consoles do work, but many many years ago our original SNES console was damaged by my older brothers playing with a water hose and it got in through the window and we traded all of our games in at that point because we were dumb.
Years later I still remember that day when I was playing Super Mario World in Star Road 1 and the water slowed the game down until it stopped with the music playing. Having experience with electronic engeineeringI still don't know how it just didn't short out at the very least. My memory could be wrong and it did just short out which makes a lot more sense.
The Nintendo World Store has a working Game Boy with Tetris that was blasted in the Gulf war which is just mind blowing. I saw it in person twice.
Yeah I guess that counts as it was a part of your life for so long. A lot of my original consoles where sold. I would have had launch PS1 but it was sold to get the PS2 and then that was sold for the PS4 and so on.

Come to think of it... the NES I have isn't the original one I had growing up. The shell is, but the insides are from another NES I got from a classmate in middle school that ended up getting modded.
So the N64 I got back in 1996 is the oldest.
Nice, I rarely mod consoles unless I need to such as with the famicom which is technically the oldest console I own but it's only been mine for 2 years. I still remember how I got my DS. My dad was forced off the couch to buy me a game boy for my birthday but he game home with a DS instead and my mum flipped and said he had been ripped off lol. Best mistake he ever made
The console I had longest, and probably also the first I had, is a Game & Watch Donkey Kong Jr (the green "New Wide Screen" model, DJ-101) which is from 1982 and therefore predates the Famicom with a year. It's technically my sister's but I grew up playing it and I'm currently taking good care of it for her. It's in great condition although I haven't tested it for years. I'm planning to get batteries for it and see if it still works. It has some strange marks that I suspect is biting marks (my sister used to bite controllers when she lost in games, leaving marks on them). Unfortunately I don't have the box or manual anymore.
Our NES was thrown away much like UglyJoe's, so I no longer have that.
My first console that was my own personal belonging, and that I bought for my own money, is my grey DMG Game Boy. The cartridge connector is very bad and the screen is not as clear as it used to be (at least I think it wasn't always this bad), but otherwise it worked perfectly fine last time I tried it.
The oldest console I own is a Fairchild Channel F and it still works great (found that in a thrift store back in 2003 for $4!). I guess my Wii would be the oldest original system I still own. My childhood 2600, NES, SNES, etc were all replaced later in life.
My oldest console would be my very first ever; my lime green Game Boy Color! I've considered modding it over the years for at least a backlit screen, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Still use it to this day for Game Boy Camera stuff now that I can transfer those images to my computer with my Everdrive 64 (which I use on the very same jungle green N64 that I got in the late 90s)!

I do have a fine collection of classic consoles such as the Atari VCS(Heavy SIxer), a Colecovision CIB, A Famicom and a Super Famicom(Well, this website itself is called 'Famicom World' after all...), but all of them were either used when I bought it, sitting in an old box, or was given by my uncle after he used it for almost ten years.
Well that's not a bad thing as its a good console. Make sure you look after it and maybe it will lead the new era of retro consoles in 10 years

The Switch leading the retro era in 10 years would be like the Nintendo Wii leading the retro era now :o
Well it's more because of the fact consoles may not be around for much longer.
