My 5 rarest NES games are as follows;

SuperVision Super Mario Bros 3 (hack of Super Mario Bros. 2 JAPAN)
Poker 2 by Sachen
Bee 52 (boxed and complete)
Jetsons Cogswells's caper (boxed and complete)
110 in 1 (I have it twice, but the casings are different)

There aren't really a lot of rare NES games out there, but I think that these ones that I own a somewhat pretty rare. Show what some of your rare games are! ;D

SHOW OFF!!! lol but nice stuff I have heard that Jetsons game is hard to come by specially complete. I have no rare NES games as of now....hmmm Mega Man? lol!

It doesn't matter how many NES games you gather, the only one people will ever ask about is Megaman.  I swear, every single time someone sees my collection, the only question they ask is "do you have Megaman?".

The NES game I paid the most for was Bubble Bobble 2, with the manual, and other than that, the only thing remotely rare is Devil World. Can't say I have five that are rare.

I think my rarest is Captain Comic, or maybe my Famicom Castlevania 3.

loll I still don't want to be a show off, but I got the Jetsons game for 3$ at a local video store. There was also Princess tomatoe boxed and complete that I bought with it, and other boxed games. I think that I bought like 14 boxed games for 3$ each, which seems to be a pretty good deal to me! ;D

I once had Snake Rattle 'n' Roll but I foolishly traded it for another game  :'(

It's not that rare of a game. I have it and I see it often for sell in flea markets. :) You'll find one for sure one day. ;)

BPS Tetris (not rare I know)

The Famicom games I mentioned aren't admittingly all that rare, they are just less commonplace than some games.

I have a full NES set though, still need about 35 boxes and 40 manuals for a fully CIB set :P  I only have like 2 fami games though, lol.

Is Chubby Cherub a rare game? :o Because I just saw it at a videogame store for 10$!

The game is not at all, same with Athletic World Family Fun Fitness version.  The boxes on the other hand are ungodly hard and expensive to find.  The box for each one is worth $500+

It was an early release game with only 1 production run.  Most of the early games had several production runs, only a few did not.  Only a handful of Chubby Cherub boxes are even in collectors hands.  Very tough to find, if you are sure they have it go NOW and get it, seriously.

oh man I'm sorry to hear about that. I had stuff like that happened to me when buying video games but it's not like I did not know it was rare but that I didn't had the money to buy it and then once I have the money it's gone!! Always happens

Yeah when that happens to me it always makes my blood boil >:( And what frustrates me even more is that the box looked pratically brandnew with the manual and the game! Just lost the chance for maybe one of my biggest finds for my nes collection...

the rarest nes game i have in my collection is a sealed copy of tetris, it is in extremely mint condition. got it at goodwill for $6.

I just recently picked up an unreleased NES game, so that probably has to jump into my top 5.  It is Mike Ditka Big Play Football, I also won the cover art for the unreleased box on ebay the same week :D

That is awesome. How does the game play??

It is pretty much a ported over famicom game, Quarterback Scramble.  It has different screens and text and is of course in English.  The game is kinda bad at first glance but it grows on you as you play it.  Plus the cool factor of having a game that was never was released makes it even better to me.

Since I have the artwork for it as well,  I plan to have the game released and sold at CGE next year in Vegas.  It will have a box and manuals made as well, should be fun.  :D

It's like a wii remote for the NES

You use the d-pad by tilting it, and you can do weird tricks/glitches because at some angles it sends information that the NES cant se, like making mario walk backwards, or making your
ninja turtle dissapear

That looks really weird! :P It's unbelievable to see all the accessories that were released for the NES. Almost all of the accessories were gimmicky and useless. They released tons of contraptions just to move your characters on the screen, and most of them all failed miserably ( *cough* PowerGlove *cough*). The only things you really need is the original NES controller, the Zapper, and ROB(well, if you have patience and play the way it was meant to be played :P) if you want to play all your games. Most of the other things are just crap. :-X

This is a pic of the board from the NA database, mine is essentially the same thing. It has a fami board soldered on a NES board  and some special NINA Chip, its basically a prototype board rather than a different game . Its for the game pyramid

I'm surprised to hear Megaman is considered rare seeing as it's one of the games American guys rave about playing in their childhood, along with Super Mario Bros and Contra. Did it have a small production run or something?

I don't think that any of the Megamans are all that rare, but 1 and 6 are rarer than the others. When people talk about playing Megaman, it seems they're mostly talking about 2, which is considered the best and most common.

The rarest NES game I own, is the lightgun classic "Chiller". Its amazingly fun and usually run about 40$ - 80$ on ebay.

Its very cool isnt it, and bloody.

I grew up playing Chiller in the arcade at my local pizza place.  It's no wonder that video games get such a bad rap...  but I ended up alright!  I wish I could buy that machine, sadly it's probably in a dump someplace.

My rarest games would be:

Guardian Heroes CIB - Sega Saturn (amazing game)
Dragon Force CIB - Sega Saturn
MVC2 - DC and PS2 (waiting for PS2)
FFVII CIB - Original PSX release (don't understand the hype)

I own 1000s of games, but there isn't too much that would sell for more than $50 individually.  Games don't really appreciate too much...  which is good for me because I am a buyer and not a seller.

^^not NES games  ;) lol  A lot of the higher end games do go up in value a TON, esp over the last few years.  You could get a Stadium Events cart only 5-6 years ago for 300 bucks, now they are 1500-1800...crazy inflation.

I bought a whole bunch or rarites lately for the NES. Namely a black cart baby boomer CIB, and a flawless mint CIB Little Samson ;D. Scored a few Hong Kong and Asian version carts as well. Little samson is now at the top of my 5 rare games list.
