Title: Twin Famicom garbled graphics
Post by: belphegors_prime on August 24, 2020, 01:36:06 pm
I've had this RGB-modded Sharp Twin Famicom for about a year now, and only today did it start giving me problems. The display output is garbled with both regular cartridges and disk system games. I took it apart to see if there were any obvious issues but didn't notice anything odd. Any ideas? Based on other posts I've found online, seems like either the VRAM or latch chips could have gone bad? Looks like latch is IC104 on the Twin Famicom, but which IC is responsible for VRAM? I'm guessing it's one of IC105/IC108 but I haven't been able to narrow it down.

thanks!

update: removed IC105, replaced it with a socket, popped in a new chip and it works perfectly now.

My twin just started doing this a few weeks after recapping and installing the nesrgb kit. But its only the carts, my drive was bad so I use a fdsstick on that side but no issues there.
