Have you tried writing different disk images? Do your files have the header information intact?
I've found the Quick Disks don't seem to be that reliable and are harder for the drives to read, but all of mine were written years ago and not by me. I haven't tried rewriting them. I have several types of QD adapters, including the Hacker one, if you want some close up pics and measurements (using a digital caliper) to make a better replica of them and to see how they fit onto the disks.
